Structural Building Designer (Entry-level) - Military Veterans

Under direct supervision, the Structural Designer will assist Structural Engineers with the preparation of building design analyses, plan preparation, and construction administration. Projects may be located locally/regionally in addition to world-wide. Travel is not required for this position; however, it may be offered on occasion for project needs. Spring and December 2024 college graduates are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have valid US Citizenship to work on federal assignments. MBI offers a hybrid/flexible working arrangement throughout the Northeast offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform structural engineering analysis and designs for various building types and materials.
  • Perform calculations for building gravity and lateral structural systems in accordance with local building codes in both the US and international locations.
  • Assist in the preparation of construction drawings.
  • Assist in the construction administration phase of a project by reviewing shop drawings and responding to requests for information.
  • Gain structural engineering knowledge of the International Building Code, various State Building Codes and Government required Unified Facilities Criteria.
  • Gain structural engineering experience with the goal of attaining a professional engineer license.
  • Other duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must have a B.S. in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • 0 - 2 years of experience working in civil or structural engineering.
  • Must be E.I.T. certified prior to employment.
  • Experience with STAAD Pro, RAM Structural System, ETABS, RISA, Microsoft Excel, MicroStation, and Revit are preferred.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills are preferred.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $63,500 - $78,500. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
