We are seeking a qualified IT System Administrator in Virginia Beach, VA.

Position Description:

The employee serves as System Administrator for the networks at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division, Virginia Beach Detachment in their Dam Neck Annex facility. Employee works as part of a team to provide network administration, desktop support, and cybersecurity functions for the customer. As part of the Cyber team, works with others to maintain and reconfigure (when necessary) the customer's Research and Development (R&D) networks and the accompanying user assets.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Must be proficient with:
  • VMware vSphere virtual environment Installation and Administration.
  • Installing operating systems for laptops, desktops, servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and virtual machines.
  • Microsoft domain administration and be able to create, update, and troubleshoot user accounts, passwords, and user profiles.
  • Microsoft SQL Server installation and Administration.
  • Solarwinds Network Configuration Monitor, Network Performance Monitor, NetFlow Traffic Analyzer, IP Address Manager, and Kiwi SYSlog Server Installation and Administration.
  • Microsoft Group Policy Objects (GPO) and be able to troubleshoot and administer GPO settings
  • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and be able to initiate software patching and updates on systems
  • Ivanti Protect and be able to initiate software patching and updates on systems
  • DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and be able to complete a STIG checklist
  • Able to communicate well, verbally and in writing.
  • Reliable, responsible, and able complete assigned tasks on schedule
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize when supporting multiple requests simultaneously
  • Able to independently research and seek out solutions.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • 4 years of relevant IT-related work experience.
  • Must possess a CompTIA Security+ or higher security certification
  • Must possess an Operating System (OS) certification - Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, or Linux OS certification
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Other Requirements:

  • Minimum Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional, as needed only (less than 15%)
