Since the April 2022 merger that led to the formation of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Fred Hutch has served as the cancer program for UW Medicine, and Philanthropy is proud to raise funds that fuel the adult oncology program on behalf of both Fred Hutch and UW Medicine. Following board approval of an ambitious, 10-year comprehensive campaign, our team of more than 100 will grow to more than 150 over the next three years. Philanthropy staff implement high-performing, relationship-based fundraising programs that engage and inspire thousands of supporters who are passionate about preventing and eliminating cancer and infectious disease. Our FY24 goals include nearly doubling our annual fundraising, deepening our patient family fundraising, and advancing the first phase our comprehensive campaign through Fred Hutch's 50th anniversary in 2025. Our success is made possible through a deep commitment to an inclusive environment and operational excellence. The Event Manager serves as part of the Experience & Engagement program within the Philanthropy department and reports to the Executive Director, Events. The Experience & Engagement program is responsible for broad-based acquisition, communications, cultivation, and stewardship activities for Fred Hutch supporters and prospects. The Event Manager is responsible for strategically planning and executing multiple events to benefit priorities at Fred Hutch. The successful candidate will exhibit dependability and willingness to work as an integral member of the Philanthropy team and be capable of working well within all levels of the organization. The Event Manager is expected to take initiative, be a self-starter, and be able to work independently of others. Must maintain professionalism, show flexibility, be customer service oriented, handle multiple tasks and changing priorities, and remain composed under pressure of deadlines. The Event Manager must be able to effectively communicate the mission, values, and scope of the institution. This position is a hybrid role with a minimum two days per week at our South Lake Union campus. Commitment and ability to work on evenings, weekends and holidays will be needed. Responsibilities Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Participate in developing the engagement and/or fundraising strategy and objectives for all assigned events Develop qualitative and quantitative goals for all assigned events Collaborate with other Philanthropy programs to ensure department-wide success Manage all aspects and details of assigned events from conception to completion, including: Develop and manage annual event timelines Manage planning and logistics for all events Develop and manage revenue and expense projections Manage, monitor, and track income and expenditures Process all gifts and invoices; guest registration, seating Track confirmed sponsor revenue and fulfill benefits Project management of event coordinators for all assigned responsibilities Collaborate with Executive Director, Donor Communications and team to produce Fred Hutch messaging through the creation of video, in-room visuals, invitations and other collateral pieces, email communications, and scripting of on-stage participants Build strategic and collegial partnerships across the department to problem solve and achieve annual Philanthropy objectives Manage all auction-related activity for assigned events, including: management of the auction software database for each assigned fundraising event; auction item procurement and packaging; fulfillment of auction packages, and writing catalog descriptions Manage routine engagement and strategic growth of any volunteer groups affiliated with assigned events Play a crucial staff role at select events Document and maintain records for historical analysis and information purposes using Raiser's Edge or related systems Additional special projects and administrative tasks as assigned. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Five years of related experience. Proven experience working a range of internal and external partners and stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and volunteer committees. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects. Highly developed organization and information management skills. Ability to understand complex verbal or written instructions. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong attention to high level of detail and quality of work. Ability to build relationships and work within a complex organization; excellent interpersonal communication. Self-motivated, creative, and flexible. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Deliver excellent customer service Proven experience working with volunteers and volunteer committees Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information Ability to build relationships and work in a team environment Must be able to lift, manage, and carry job-related materials CRM knowledge (equivalent to Raiser's Edge/NXT) Proficiency with project management systems preferred (SmartSheet, Asana). The annual base salary range for this position is from $69,472 to $104,187, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
