Job Summary: The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care seeks a physician scientist to advance patient care through research collaborations. The physician scientist will be expected to engage in active collaborative research, build clinical and/or translational research in the division and obtain/maintain independent extramural funding. Duties include direct patient care, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service; (25-30%). * Duties also include inpatient call coverage * Includes protected time (70-75%) to develop a research or teaching program and to engage in scholarly activities * Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows within the context of your clinical practice * Proactively enhancing and supporting efforts regarding diversity in clinical trial participants The successful candidate will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members. Clinical research is conducted in the UWCCC by 18 multi-disciplinary Disease Oriented Teams and is supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Central Office on the main campus. Over 170 UWCCC investigators regularly enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials at our UWCCC clinical sites. UW is an affiliate member of the BMT Clinical Trials Network and a member of the NCCN, ECOG- ACRIN, Alliance, BigTen Cancer Research Consortium, Wisconsin Oncology Network (WON) and Wisconsin Association of Hematology and Oncology (WAHO). The Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology & Palliative Care is part of the Department of Medicine and the NCI-designated UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Division is active in all phases of cancer therapy, from prevention, screening, cancer therapy, development and evaluation, survivorship and palliative care. Experience in clinical, translational or basic science research, with a track record of successful publications in peer reviewed journals, strong written and verbal communication skills, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, evidence of excellence in teaching and current or high potential to obtain extramural funding. For appointment at Associate Professor rank on the Tenure Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the Tenure Track. License/Certification: Required ABIM - American Board of Internal Medicine Certification Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in hematology and/or medical oncology. Must have completed an accredited fellowship training program in hematology and/or medical oncology. Must be eligible for a Wisconsin medical license. Work Type: Full or Part Time: 80% - 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
