Adjunct Faculty (Anatomy, Physiology, and Terminology I) Accepting Applications for Academic Year 2023-2024 Teach medical terminology in a systematic manner in tandem with the anatomy and physiology. Instruction in anatomy and physiology begins with the cell and progresses to the body cavities, planes, and systems through the digestive system. Provide instruction which strengthens students' understanding of the clinical sciences and increases technical skills needed in administering patient care. Responsibilities and Duties Essential Functions: Prepare course syllabi that meet all contractual requirements. Schedule classes to meet for the allotted time on every scheduled meeting day during the semester. Cover all department course outcomes. Employ effective instructional strategies that promote student learning. Use appropriate assessment tools to accurately measure student understanding. Monitor email communications from students and the college, and respond in a timely manner. Provide availability outside of class to meet with and assist students. Meet all deadlines for submission of grades, student participation reports, student grievance responses and other administrative documentation. Additional responsibilities: Manage a level of flexibility that holds students accountable, and recognizes the challenging work/school/life balance lead by many students at Massasoit. Ensure appropriate training in laboratory safety for laboratory classes. Follow divisional policies to maintain security of laboratory spaces, chemicals and equipment. Work collaboratively with divisional staff. Provide feedback on student progress to advisement and counseling. Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions. THIS POOL IS VALID THROUGH JUNE 30, 2024. Positions may consist of day, night, or weekend positions and may be in Brockton, Canton, Middleborough, online or any other instructional site. Please note: Positions will be available pending sufficient enrollment. Qualified applicants will be contacted by the academic department. Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher in natural sciences or medical/health sciences Master's degree preferred. Experience teaching natural sciences, health/clinical courses in higher education. Experience teaching at the community/two-year college level preferred. Three (3) years recent work experience in medical/health science or education fields. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with and understanding of the community college environment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Capable of maintaining academic standards with empathy and honesty. Knowledge of and experience using effective pedagogical strategies. Experience and training in online instruction. Certified Medical Assistant recognized by CAAHEP and MAERB. Additional Information: Position Status: MCCC/MTA position Hours: TBD Salary: $1,132 per credit, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
