Departmental Program Specialist - SFL | Loyola Marymount University - Military Veterans

Under the general supervision of the interim associate director and assistant directors, this position will aid in the advisement and support of the sorority and fraternity (SFL) community, as well as all affiliated organizations and boards. This position will also oversee community-wide programming and monitor the risk management of all organization's activities. Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities Assist in oversight and advisement of all aspects of the fraternity and sorority community. Assist with the day-to-day management of the fraternity and sorority community, including advisement of chapter and council officers, supervision of SFL student staff, SFL community recruitment efforts, Greek Week, Order of Omega, dance marathon and other related committees and events. Assist with developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs which reflect the needs of the fraternity and sorority student population; train students to implement and evaluate the same. Maintain a positive and active working relationship with chapter advisors, local alumni(ae), corporation board officers, inter/national officers and headquarters, local law enforcement agencies and community officials. Assist in the budget process related to the fraternity and sorority community. Work with chapter and council leadership to maintain sound fiscal practices. Assist in the development and implementation of developmental student leadership programs for the sorority and fraternity community. Take a lead role as requested or directed. Assist with assessment for Student Leadership & Development programs. Take a lead role as requested or directed. Collect and analyze data, prepare, and write reports and program proposals as requested. Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports as requested or directed. Actively participate in the production of campus-wide programs, events, special projects, and weekend activities. Promote full participation of a diverse student population in all involvement opportunities within student life. Work collaboratively with staff in the Division of Student Affairs to develop joint student programming. Perform other duties related to student programming, leadership, and advising as assigned or requested. Requisite Qualifications Typically a Bachelor's degree in higher education administration, business, or related field or equivalent experience. A master's degree is preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of best practices and policy changes. Two years Greek life advisement and experience in progressively responsible positions. Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: student development, program coordination, student leader advisement, parliamentary procedure, leadership development, conflict management, mediation, judicial board advisement, group dynamics and fiscal management. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; copy editing and layout; oral presentations to diverse audiences. Demonstrated leadership skills. Highly developed organizational and leadership skills. Ability to work with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students. Demonstrated computer competency and experience with student engagement and event management software and systems. Membership in an inter/national sorority or fraternity highly preferred.
