Assistant Director of HEOP | Manhattan University - Military Veterans

The Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) provides access to students who, because of academic and financial hardships, would not normally be able to attend a private college or university. Working across multiple institutions in New York State, students receive increased financial assistance and tailored academic support.The Assistant Director is a position available under a five-year grant program that will end June 30th, 2025. HEOP engages with approximately fifty students across all academic schools and all years of study. HEOP participants have access to intentional advisement, guidance, and success initiatives that include tutoring, mentoring, and academic coaching. The Assistant Director, under the supervision of the Director of HEOP will be required to: Manage a caseload of students in the range of 30-40, with special focus paid to those students who are at-risk Oversee compliance for assigned HEOP students, ensuring participants are in good academic and financial standing Provide frequent advisement for enrolled students and maintain open communication Researching and implementing effective systems of support for HEOP students, being cognizant of barriers to success Assist in the day-to-day management of HEOP activities Lead the Opportunity Programs' Peer Academic Coaching program, implementing training and curriculum development for at-risk students Lead Workshops that address topics relevant or of interest to program participants Engage in HEOP Professional Development opportunities Assist in gathering of student data for NYSED reporting Perform other duties as required Background Required: Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree strongly preferred) in education, counseling, or related field A minimum of 3-5 years' experience working with a similar population of students in a related program Competency with Google Suite The Assistant Director will be passionate about the goals of HEOP Salary: $63, 000 - $65, 000 Manhattan College is an independent Catholic coeducational institution in the Lasallian tradition.
