Department Student Publication SPUBL Position Summary The Assistant Director of Met Media oversees student teams in marketing and sales while giving technical assistance with video/audio production and design on the editorial side when needed. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, the Met Media Assistant Director within the Center for Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion (CMEI) serves as marketing director, creative liaison, and production manager for the non-editorial content of Met Mediaâ™s student-run entities. Met Media houses television newscasts in English and Spanish as well as sports programming; the student-run newspaper; semester art and literary magazine; and podcast and live radio station, all brought together online through MyMetMedia.com. The Assistant Director will manage the marketing and promotions within Met Media and assist with skills development and experiential learning in all areas. The ideal candidate is excited to bring together different teams while creating and revising programs and processes to meet the needs within the changing media and educational environments. They will be able to envision and independently create a new media student team including social media, design, web, sales, and contract production services. IND208 Duties/Responsibilities 45% - Supervision and Staff Development Supervises students from video, graphic design, marketing, and social media backgrounds to provide feedback, semester personnel evaluations, training, and mentoring. Communicates with cultural competence facilitating an environment of ongoing learning for staff of all identities to develop their potential. Creates and conducts training to ensure student staff are learning the technical, communication, and client services skills to successfully complete projects from request to billing. Works with staff to monitor and support all projects ensuring client expectations are met and production is on schedule. Promotes student growth and success by delegating and supervising projects equitably. 25% - Marketing Media Production and Project Management Directs all inhouse media marketing content, including video, social media, web, and graphic design. Manages creative services work for other university offices and local clients, which will include video production, design, DJ services, commercials, and photography. Works directly with the Assistant Director of Signature Events and Campus Activities for sponsored events intended to increase awareness and recognition of the CMEI or University sponsored events, such as convocation and homecoming. Tracks and increases audience engagement in a variety of platforms and translates data to show Met Media and overall CMEI value. Works with Associate Director and student leaders to develop marketing and audience engagement plans for their entitles with a focus on increasing content and views to MyMetMedia.com. Manages workflow systems by monitoring processes, and tracking of all requests, projects, and income. Collaborates on concepts for, maintains and oversees the CMEI branding to coincide with the overall branding standards of the university. Collaborates on concepts but manages design and production of marketing materials for all entities, including videos, brochures, ads, flyers, posters, media kits, event programs and invitations. 10% - Content Creation Shoots and produces marketing videos. Creates promotional materials using Adobe Creative Suite. Updates or supervises web content and SEO management in WordPress. Writes and posts on social media. 10% - Sales and Advertising Develops plan to demonstrate ROI for various sales offerings in web, radio, video, and print ads to community. Conceptualizes and executes revenue-generating strategies. Manage the layout and pagination of advertising pages for The Metropolitan, including the establishment of size and color placement for the weekly paper. Manages and approves design of ads for The Metropolitan, The Met Report, Met Radio and Metrosphere, and MyMetMedia.com. 10% - Related Other Duties Stays current with changing technology to help provide the best student training facility possible. Supervises the preservation and updating of file server archives, in addition to the organization and backup of current-year files. Vision for marketing and production team in collaboration with the Associate Director for the long-term vision of Met Media. Determines goals, setting outcomes and assessment related to audience engagement, revenue generation, and student development. Actively participates in committees and working groups related to equity and student engagement and supports the development and implementation of equity and diversity education and training on campus. Leads and/or contributes to special projects and/or initiatives, as requested that relate to equitable student engagement. Participates in training and relevant professional development activities to support professional and/or departmental growth. Works to operationalize and/or integrate learning from these trainings into the work unit and work processes. Is an innovator, a disrupter, and a change agent for racial equity and student engagement. Strives to recognize inequities in the work and in oneself and commits to address them. Seeks out opportunities to take calculated risks in support of a more engaged and equitably supported student community at MSU Denver. Required Qualifications Bachelorâ™s degree in marketing or related fields such as digital media, media production, communications design, journalism. Minimum four years of professional experience in marketing, video production, communication/graphic design, or comparable job. Experience in supervision of professional and/or student staff. General knowledge of video and sound recording and editing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Audacity. Preferred Qualifications Masterâ™s degree in journalism or marketing. Knowledge of project management. Experience managing a multi-media marketing team. Experience teaching or training on software programs, hardware, production, or client services. Strong knowledge of social media and social media management platform. Demonstrated ability to make sound design decisions across various markets and media. Knowledge of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion, including mediaâ™s impact on marginalized communities with a willingness to learn more and work for a more equitable society. Work Hours 40 hours per week Hybrid schedule (on-campus and remote) available for this position. Salary for Announcement We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $49,900 - $62,400 . The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
