Job overview and responsibilities


The Senior Engineer IT is responsible for the implementation, optimization, troubleshooting, and support of various platforms (Switches, Routers, load balancers, and wireless). Provide direct technical support in life cycle planning, problem management, integration, and systems programming. Implement releases, upgrades, and/or changes in the environment.


The Senior engineer works closely with the IT Network Infrastructure Sr. Manager, contributes to the overall strategic vision, integrates various ideas regarding network engineering across Wide Area Network and Local Area Network infrastructure, and is sought as a resource for resolution of unique or complex network engineering/operation problems and/or issues.



  • Troubleshoot and maintain the overall WAN and LAN architecture, including network topology, routing protocols, and traffic engineering to meet performance, scalability, and availability requirements.

  • Knowledge of WAN/LAN technologies and solutions, including routers, switches, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPNs, QoS, and other networking devices and solutions.

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve complex network issues, provide escalation support for network-related incidents and outages, document root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to mitigate future incidents.

  • Participates in 24 X 7 support of the Network Operations team.

  • Monitor and analyze WAN performance metrics to identify areas for improvement. Optimize network configurations, protocols, and bandwidth utilization to maximize efficiency

Qualifications


Required



  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of experience in a related field

  • CCNP certification/experience in Routing and Switching (Cisco Certified Network Professional).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Aptitude for problem-solving, looking beyond the obvious and not stopping at the first answer

  • Deep knowledge level of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), switching technologies, SDWAN, ACI, and WAN optimization techniques.

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco and other leading networking vendors.

  • Technical aptitude and ability to learn new technologies and solutions.


Preferred



  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology

  • 5-10 years of related experience in a critical environment

  • CCNP certification in Routing and Switching (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert)

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn F5 technologies.

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn WLAN technologies
