Associate Director of Management Reporting, Enterprise FP&A - Military Veterans

The Enterprise FP&A team provides overall management reporting, financial planning and analysis, decision support and finance operations support to all Alexion's corporate center functions. The team is responsible for providing an enterprise-wide view of Alexion's financial performance to the Alexion Leadership Team and assist the CFO with delivering the financial targets, actively running opportunities and risks. In doing so, the team develops extensive partnerships with all areas of the Company, including Commercial, R&D, Operations, Enabling Functions, etc.

The Enterprise FP&A team is responsible for all aspects of corporate management reporting and for leading the Annual Business Cycle of the Company, in particular the Long, Mid and In-Year Budgeting and Forecasting exercises. The coordination of reporting and these exercises requires partnership with AstraZeneca Group Finance and elaboration of detailed and robust guidelines and timelines.

The Associate Director of Management Reporting, Enterprise FP&A reports to the Head of Enterprise FP&A and Enabling Finance and is responsible for all aspects of management reporting for Alexion. The role: a) requires high level of expertise in reporting standards and guidelines; b) operates in a matrixed model with AstraZeneca Group Finance, Alexion Accounting Team, Alexion Global Finance Teams, Global Financial Services, etc. and c) requires working across multiple systems and reporting platforms in order to produce Alexion consolidated financial results and reports.

The key focus of this role is to enable Alexion management reporting, delivering accurate and timely reports for decision making in line with standards and guidelines. In doing so, promote automation and a culture of right the first time.

You will be responsible for:


  • Leading on delivery of monthly, quarterly and yearly management reporting of Alexion, including monthly performance packs for Alexion Leadership Team, presentations to the CFO and Alexion Finance Leadership Team.

  • Supporting the Head of Enterprise FP&A and Enabling Finance on the delivery against targets, development of quarterly outturns and full year landing.

  • Working across the Enterprise to gather relevant business insights and performance indicators that support explanations of the present financial performance and future outlook. Actively handle Risks and Opportunities ensuring a balanced profile.

  • Collaborating in all aspects of financial planning and forecasting, ensuring a strong linkage between current financial performance and forecasted objectives and deliverables.

  • The establishment of a positive relationship with AstraZeneca Group Finance, based on transparency, active communication and co-creation of solutions to improve the overall management reporting environment.

  • Evolving Alexion management reporting framework in line with AstraZeneca Group requirements, standards and guidelines.

  • Developing the vital frameworks and tools to deliver Alexion specific reporting requirements in line with the business needs and opportunities.

  • Actively leading on the improvement of the Alexion systems roadmap, focusing on aligning data structures for management reporting, streamlining processes and development of reporting and analytics tools.

  • Leading the business requirements and roll out of PowerBI in all dimensions associated with Management Reporting. Establish a robust platform of automated reports and dashboards in support of effective decision making.

  • Initiating and drive improvement projects and/ or support ad-hoc projects and critical initiatives promoted by senior management.

  • Mentoring and developing the Global Financial Services team in order to evolve the operating model and deliver outstanding reporting and analytics. Collaborate with the wider AstraZeneca Finance Community.



You will need to have:


  • MBA, Degree in Business/Finance or other Finance/ Business qualification.

  • At least 15+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Management Reporting, Controllership, Auditing, Accounting or FP&A.

  • Previous experience in leading Management Reporting and/ or FP&A processes in large scale and matrixed organizations and/ or extensive FP&A experience supporting Business Units/ Regional Units with P&L accountability.

  • Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills with an ability to translate sophisticated business questions into financial insights and actions.

  • Strong systems skills and the ability to manipulate heavy sets of data.

  • Strong operational capability, with ability to manage projects and timelines; effective stakeholder leadership skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce high-quality, impressive deliverables that are suitable for senior executive audience

  • Highly collaborative, strong communication skills and cross-functional team experience; ability to lead and influence within a matrix

  • Willingness to travel (domestic, international) ~ 10% of the time, in accordance with company policies

  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. The annual base salary for this position ranges from $ 144,447.20 to $216,670.80. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
