About Lakewood Regional Support

Our regional support center provides resources to our hotels for multiple areas including Human Resources, Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Security, Group Reservations, Guest Contact Center, Information Technology, Laundry and Communications.

Purpose:

Work within the Human Resources team to make Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando (LHUO) the employer of choice in Central Florida by providing a consistently fair, productive and proactive work environment where team members are treated fairly, courteously and with respect. The senior benefits specialist is responsible for overseeing and administering all facets of our benefit programs. They should be familiar with all state and federal regulations that impact benefits, such as ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ERISA and 401(k) in order to ensure compliance with all programs. They specialize in health insurance, retirement plans, time off program and leave of absence programs. Team members rely on the Benefits Team to administer and manage their benefits timely, accurately and effectively.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures adherence to all Loews policies and procedures

  • Works directly with both the team member and the appropriate vendor to resolve benefits-related issues while providing excellent customer service through professionalism, ownership, and initiative

  • Provides training, guidance and support to Benefits Specialist

  • Identifies issues and works closely with Benefits Manager by providing suggestions and solutions

  • Performs regular audits and reviews to ensure accuracy of all benefit related data within the HRIS system

  • Ensures team member files are accurate and updated

  • Conducts new hire benefits orientation. Ensures benefit information provided is complete, accurate and professional in appearance

  • Assists team members with the benefit enrollment process

  • Administers all team member leave of absence requests and tracks benefit eligibility

  • Maintains confidentiality of team member conversations, documents received and follows HIPAA regulations

  • Promotes and shares information about wellness programs and events

  • Partners with Human Resources teams throughout the campus to plan, organize and facilitate successful annual open enrollments

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Promotes and applies teamwork skills at all times

  • Notifies appropriate individual promptly and fully of problems and/or unusual matters of significance

  • Is polite, friendly, and helpful to team members

  • Executes emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards

  • Complies with required safety regulations and procedures

  • Attends appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions

  • Maintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area

  • Complies with hotel standards, policies and rules

  • Recycles whenever possible

  • Remains current with hotel information and changes

  • Complies with hotel uniform and grooming standards



Required Qualifications:

  • Associate of Science degree in Hospitality, Business Management, or related field (or five years related experience)

  • Experience with issues relating to ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, HealthCare Reform and ADA

  • Working knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to benefit programs, and federal and state leave laws and disability programs

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail

  • Familiarity with local job market

  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and human relations skills

  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with all levels of hotel team members



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with or able to learn HRIS and Time & Attendance systems

  • Good working knowledge of operational and administrative hotel departments



Education:
  • Associate of Science degree in Hospitality, Business Management, or related field


Experience:
  • At least 5 years related experience


Certifications & Licenses:
  • PHR/SPHR
