Position Purpose
The Space Planner provides support for project development for the planning and programming of new and redevelopment of existing campus spaces, ensuring optimal space utilization that aligns with Dartmouth's strategic goals and user requirements. This position requires a combination of analytical skills and an understanding of space utilization principles in a higher education environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to site assessment of facilities, analysis of space utilization, development of concept sketches and test fits, preparation of existing and proposed space allocation, coordination of moves, and updates to the campus space inventory and CAD floor plans. The Space Planner will report to the Director of Campus Planning and will collaborate closely with planning staff and stakeholders to assess current space usage, identify optimization opportunities, and help develop short- and long-term space plans to support the institution's academic and operational objectives. Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Bachelors plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• A bachelor's degree in planning, interior design, building sciences, architecture, or related field of study. Or an associate degree with a minimum of three years of full-time professional experience in space planning, design, or construction management and administration.
• Two or more years of experience in space planning, design or construction management and administration.
• Demonstrated knowledge of space planning principles and best practices.
• Strong computer skills, including the ability to learn new software. Must be proficient in AutoCAD, IWMS , Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of space planning principles and best practices.
• Knowledge of other graphic software is a plus.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and conflicting priorities and bring them to a timely completion.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups, including faculty, staff, students, contractors, consultants, and users at all levels.
• Ability to work independently and apply critical thinking and sound judgment.
• Demonstrated commitment to sustainability.
