Research Data Analyst | Johns Hopkins University - Military Veterans

Our research team seeks to study how genes and the environment work together to shape neurodevelopment and autism. As part of this effort, we are looking for a highly motivated and talented Research Data Analyst with a strong background in genomics data analysis to join our research team. You will work with a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team of investigators spanning the fields of epidemiology, genomics, biostatistics, and environmental and mental health sciences. Under the supervision of the principal investigator, you will be expected to independently carry out data analyses and work effectively with team members to achieve the overall goals of the project. Additionally, our research team is affiliated with the Department of Epidemiology and Wendy Klag Center for Autism & Developmental Disabilities (WKC). As a member of our research team, you will have an opportunity to attend journal clubs, meetings, and annual symposia and retreat events. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Work in collaboration with scientists and core staff to address research questions involving the analysis of genetic and environmental risk hypotheses. Carry out data analyses for large genomic and epidemiologic datasets, including genetic, epigenetic, expression, and other –omics data including summary measures of omics data such as polygenic risk scores. Mine publicly available -omic databases. Problem-solve applications of existing analytic tools to specific data analysis projects, including independent identification of problems and initial attempts at solutions. Modify existing methods for application to new datasets and types of analyses – typically using R software. Identify systematic problems with data related to lab or data cleaning methods, software, or personnel. Document work and data analyses, particularly through organized digital records of data set sources, file locations, and statistical and bioinformatics code. Contribute to the preparation of research grant applications in a collaborative setting. Interpret and translate the results of statistical analyses. Clearly summarize and present findings at team meetings. Prepare written reports of statistical analyses, including relevant statistical theory, references, methods, results, and conclusions to contribute to scientific publications. Keep abreast of technical and academic resources related to the methodology of statistical analyses. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in related discipline. Three years related experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree, with specific training in genomics. Experience performing analyses on a high-performance compute cluster utilizing parallelization and multi-threading. Experience in data management and analysis of high-dimensional or longitudinal data is preferred. A strong research record in genetic epidemiology including experience in genetic association (GWAS), epigenomic or other -omics analysis, post-GWAS analysis, and polygenic score or exome sequencing data experience is highly desirable.     Classified Title: Research Data Analyst   Role/Level/Range: ACRP/04/MC   Starting Salary Range: $47,500 - $83,300 Annually (Commensurate with experience)  Employee group: Full Time  Schedule: Monday to Friday: 9 am – 5 pm  Exempt Status: Exempt  Location: Hybrid/School of Public Health  Department name: ​​​​​​​Epidemiology  Personnel area: School of Public Health
