Director of Human Resources | Clark University - Military Veterans

Job Description:

The Director of Human Resources will drive a culture of innovation and strategic support for a dynamic workforce at Clark University. In collaboration with university leadership and reporting directly to the CHRO, this position will lead an effective and responsive human resources operation, developing and implementing strategies that reflect Clark's core values, mission, and goals. The primary focus will be on benefits administration, HRIS management, compliance, and HR operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the University's human resource operations.

Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on key human resources trends and issues.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment legislation and communicate changes and requirements effectively.

Benefits Administration:

Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, and other ancillary benefits.

Evaluate and recommend benefit plan designs that are competitive and cost-effective.

Ensure benefits programs are effectively communicated to employees and that enrollment processes are efficient and user-friendly.

HRIS Management:

Manage and maintain the human resource information system (HRIS), currently Ellucian Banner, ensuring it meets the personnel information needs of the University.

Evaluate and implement improvements to the HRIS to enhance data management and reporting capabilities.

Ensure data integrity and security within the HRIS.

Compliance and Advisory:

Review and recommend improvements to University policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.

Maintain knowledge of industry trends and ensure University compliance with employment legislation.

HR Operations:

Administer the annual performance management and salary increase process.

Analyze and improve the effectiveness of HR operations and policies.

Represent human resources on various campus committees.

Other Responsibilities:

Negotiate collective bargaining agreements with the Clark University Police Association.

Govern the Ellucian Banner HRIS security access roles.

Supervise HR staff.

Requirements:

BS/BA degreerequired; Master's degree preferred.

10+ years of progressive experience in human resource management, with a preference for experience in higher education.

Strong knowledge of employment law and its practical application.

Extensive experience in benefits administration.

Proficiency with HRIS systems, preferably Ellucian Banner, though experience with any core HR or HRIS system is acceptable.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including faculty, staff, and students.

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Strong communication skills for delivering information clearly and confidently.

High level of integrity and professionalism.

Self-motivated with a commitment to personal and professional development.
