General Description The Peabody Preparatory is pleased to announce an adjunct electric guitar instructor position in the Guitar Department at the Peabody Preparatory. The successful candidate will join a highly skilled and dedicated guitar faculty as part of a vibrant and active department committed to helping all students achieve their potential; we embrace the novice musician as well as the serious student aspiring toward a career in music.   Responsibilities: -       Teach electric guitar in private and group settings, catering to students of all levels (beginner to advanced), ages (elementary school aged to adult), and backgrounds. Our downtown campus is the primary location, with potential for expansion to other campuses. -       Collaborate with the department on student performances, faculty meetings, and potential substitute teaching assignments. -       Actively participate in the department's Fret Fest event.   About Us:   Established in 1894, the Peabody Preparatory boasts a rich history of nurturing musical talent. Offerings range from early childhood classes that spark a lifelong love of music and dance, to programs designed for adults and professional dancers and musicians seeking to hone their skills.   Located in downtown Baltimore and sharing space with the renowned Peabody Conservatory, the Preparatory also extends its reach through four satellite campuses in the communities of Towson, Annapolis, Frederick, and Howard County, MD.   Qualifications Education requirements: -       Bachelor's degree in music or music education (or equivalent experience) is required. -        Master's degree or equivalent experience and training in music or music education is a plus.   Qualifications:    -        Strong experience as an instructor of electric guitar. -        Excellent communication and organizational skills. -        Demonstrated professional performance experience. -        Familiarity with recording and remote teaching technology (DAWs, Zoom, etc.) is preferred. -        Enthusiasm for fostering a love of music and teaching elementary aged children through adults with various experience levels in multiple electric guitar styles. -        Some familiarity with classical guitar welcome, but not required.   Application Instructions Please submit: -       Cover letter -       Statement of teaching philosophy -       Current resumé or CV -         Links to 1-3 recent performance recordings (totaling no more than 10 minutes) on YouTube or a similar platform. -       Contact information for two professional references   Review Process: Applications received before August 1, 2024, will be given priority consideration, but submissions will be accepted until the position is filled.   Outstanding applicants will be invited to interview in person at the downtown Peabody Institute (1 E. Mount Vernon Place, Baltimore) between August 19 and 23, 2024. Interviews will include discussions with a panel and a live teaching demonstration with a current Preparatory student.
