Job Overview The School of Education at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a full-time, Assistant Professor-Educator (non-tenure track) in Applied Research Methods.  This is a 9-month per year teaching position.  The expected appointment will begin August 15, 2025.   The Research Methods area of the School of Education trains graduate students primarily through the Educational Studies MA and PhD programs and serves graduate students from departments across the University with a significant range of Research Methods course offerings.  The Research Methods faculty have a strong commitment to high-quality teaching and the value of diverse research methods.  Collectively, our methodological specializations include quantitative design, statistics, and measurement; action research and participatory methods; and mixed methods research.  We are seeking a faculty member with a passion for teaching applied research methods and working with graduate students.   This Educator position involves teaching introductory statistics courses and the introduction to research methods course as well as mentoring master's students using a variety of research methods in their capstone projects.  In addition, the position includes the possibility of teaching other applied research and evaluation courses aligned with the educator's expertise (e.g., survey methods, qualitative methods, or conducting quantitative research).  Although this is primarily a teaching position, the successful candidate will be expected to engage with and advise graduate students; actively participate in program meetings and support program functioning; and contribute to ongoing development and review of courses/curriculum. More than anything, we are looking for a great teacher, mentor, and colleague who deeply cares about student success and training the next generation of researchers. Essential Functions An Assistant Professor–Educator at the University of Cincinnati is expected to teach and perform other professional or creative activities (e.g., mentor students, work on program/course development). This position will support the University of Cincinnati's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.  As part of the teaching responsibilities, the Assistant Professor–Educator will be expected to: Teach the equivalent of four courses (this may include program coordination or other service to reduce actual courses taught) each semester (4-4 course load).  The Educator will be expected to teach introductory statistics (EDST 7010 and 7011), introduction to research methods (EDST 7000), and other courses related to their research methods expertise.  Classes will include online/distance and face-to-face modes of instruction.  Advise master's students and mentor doctoral students who are applying evaluation and research methods in their capstone projects and research studies.  Encourage and support the use of diverse methods (qualitative, action, and mixed) by graduate students.  Actively participate in the Research Methods program area and School of Education by attending faculty meetings, engaging in committee work, updating existing courses to reflect current trends and development, and contributing to program/course development and review. Minimum Requirements Earned doctorate in an education or social science-related field (e.g., education, educational psychology, psychology, nursing, health promotion, family studies) from an accredited university by August 15, 2025. At least two semesters (or equivalent) of experience teaching research methods that includes at least one semester of applied statistics. Documented engagement with methods outside of quantitative research (i.e., qualitative , action, and/or mixed methods). Additional Qualifications Considered At least three semesters (or equivalent) of experience as a primary instructor in applied statistics. At least one semester teaching (as an instructor or teaching assistant) any of the following: Research Design or Research Paradigms, Survey Methods, Qualitative Methods, Mixed Methods Research, Evaluation Methods, Action Research Methods. Evidence of successful teaching of applied research or evaluation methods at the postsecondary level as substantiated by student evaluations and formal assessments. Evidence of continuous efforts to enhance the practice of teaching and learning. Experience with online teaching (asynchronous, HyFlex, hybrid). Experience with successfully mentoring student research projects. Experience in working on research or evaluation projects using innovative research methods.
