Job Overview






Troubleshoot, repair and perform scheduled maintenance on mechanical and electrical forklift as well as other related material handling equipment based on customer needs and requirements in the field.  Dedicated to customer satisfaction, responding in a timely, polite and professional manner.  Find ways to save customers money on every visit, help them keep their equipment up and running at the lowest possible cost.  Follow the dispatcher’s instructions to ensure we handle customers on a priority basis.  Protect the value of the brand name and company image.  Determination of Level will be determined on experience and skill.








Key Job Responsibilities








  • Observes all safety procedures both from our company and the customer’s safety procedures.  Always uses required PPE equipment, including steel-toed shoes.  Follows all driving safety tips when operating Company Service Van.  Makes certain that all hazardous waste is properly disposed of.  Maintains the Company Service Van in a clean, orderly and hazard-free manner.  Makes sure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.  Completes daily walk around inspection


  • Meets with the appropriate customer operator/manager to identify the unit in need of repair to ensure the problem is understood.  Expertly analyzes and diagnoses customer equipment problems and breakdowns.  Recommends the correct service and repairs needed to resolve equipment performance and or safety problems.  Shows customer where the failure is and recommended repair.


  • Makes appropriate equipment repairs or modifications to solve operating and performance problems as dictated by the analysis of the customer's equipment.  Tests the unit once repair is made to be sure the unit is operating safely and properly.


  • Accurately and neatly documents on the work order (or tablet) the work performed, hour meter readings, serial numbers, model numbers and all information asked for.  When work is complete make sure customer employee authorized to sign, signs the work order after a clear explanation of work performed is given.  Turns in work orders and other related paper work on a timely basis as directed by service manager.


  • Records all customer comments made to you including compliments or complaints.  Turns them into management so appropriate action is taken.  These may include suggestions for improvement of our service and support of our valuable customer.


  • Secures and maintains parts inventory in the company service vehicle.


  • Promotes an atmosphere of good will and accountability between the company and the customer.  Acts in professional manner and provides a superior level of customer service and satisfaction.  Builds trust with customer personnel through honesty and integrity.










Qualifications/Requirements








  • Effectively communicates with customers, co-workers and management.


  • Has strong mechanical and electrical aptitude – experience working on Forklifts strongly preferred.


  • Ability to understand the necessary service and training manuals, including the ability to interpret schematics and effectively use electrical diagnostic instruments.  


  • Keeps pace with industry innovations in order to make sound recommendations to customers.


  • Safely operates power tools, lifts, hoists, hydraulic jacks and overhead cranes.  










Additional Information






Has the ability to perform strenuous and heavy work, can exert force up to 100 pounds on occasion and frequently handle loads to 50 pounds.  Must have the physical stamina to perform continuously with full body motion for climbing, reaching, pushing, lifting and reaching, etc.



 



Must have a valid driver’s license.



 



Must be able to provide own tools.

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization.  We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.  In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites.  We have approximately 1,200 employees.
