Job Summary
The Carpenter performs skilled carpentry work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities and related work as required.
Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 0 to 5 years of experience.
  • Performs work under direct supervision.
  • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.
  • Above average verbal communication social and interpersonal skills.
  • Above average comprehension skills to follow safety regulations instruction and in interpreting building blueprints
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Accomplish and complete daily job accomplishment reports when required.
  • Observe work shift hours and not be late for work.
  • Repair and construct furniture and fixtures as necessary
  • Works from drawings or verbal instructions and operates a variety of carpentry hand and power tools or equipment such as hand saw mortiser drill press and wood lathe.
  • Remodels and repairs cabinets counters shelves tables and miscellaneous furniture.
  • Replaces and repairs door closures and locks.
  • Alters and repairs a variety of building structures such as walls partitions doorways window frames stairways and roofs. Installs window glass and screens; applies wall and floor covering materials.
  • Installs ceramic and other types of tile.
  • Refinishes furniture and paints and stains building interiors and exteriors.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Estimates time and material costs on carpentry projects and requisitions new carpentry materials and equipment.
