Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Polysomnography Technologist, Reg / Sleep Lab Garden City/ Sign on Bonus/ RRT's Welcome to Apply.

In this role, the successful candidate works under the general supervision of the director or designee, including diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient care and education. Performs technical duties in conjunction with the operation and maintenance of Polysomnographic equipment and is not limited to the acquisition, scoring and report generation.

Job Responsibilities:


    • Performs other duties as assigned

    • Explains procedures, test and treatment trial. Shows patient to room, explains paperwork and compiles paperwork into chart after filled out by patient. Shows Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) video, answers questions and explains CPAP Bilevel PAP.

    • Attaches electrodes in standard manner according to established protocol. Measures head using international 10-20 electrode placement system.

    • Performs In Bed procedures, any treatment trial, Bio-Calibrations, CPAP Bilevel PAP titration as per Established titration protocol. Adjusts sensors as required. Follows list from

    • Performs required computer related procedures. Initiates Biological recording and video recording. Monitors recording during overnight. Performs required technician notes during study and enters notes on tech-log and into computer as required. Details documentation of interactions with patient. Fills out Tech summary at end of study and forwards to appropriate persons.

    • Stays alert and involved with recordings, recognizes any aberrant physiological activity and addresses any needed interventions in a timely manner. Notifies supervisor or physician as needed. Scores polysomnography according lab guidelines.

    • Cleans and sets up equipment for next use, replaces electrodes and sensors shown to be in disrepair. Performs needed transferring of information. Ensures electronic PSG files migrate to central scoring machine. Compiles paperwork into working chart for PSG, and forwards to biller's office after study.

    • Notifies supervisor of problems. Alerts others to improperly functioning equipment or levels of supplies. Attempts trouble-shooting of equipment malfunctions.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must possess the following:

Education associated with a NYS licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational program under Polysomnography grandparent provision prior to February 3, 2014,

                                                                                       OR 

Successful completion of an approved Polysomnography education program

                                                                                          OR

Successful completion of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.

In addition, excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal skills required. Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills required. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Required Licenses: Board Reg - Sleep Technologist, Polysomnographic Tech Permit, Respiratory Therapy Tech-NYS, Respiratory Therapist License-NYS, NYS Polysomnographic Technologist

Preferred Qualifications:
1 - 2 years Experience working as a Polysomnographic Technologist, preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $96,650.80 - $105,618.40 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
