General Summary

Truck Drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment, including but not limited to 50-ton Haul Truck, 745 Haul Truck, Articulated Truck, Rigid Truck, Dump Truck, Articulated Water Tanker. This project is located in Northern New Mexico.

Essential Job Accountabilities


  • Safety and efficiently operate equipment within its capabilities and limitations, to haul and dump material in designated area.

  • Perform safety, routine, pre-, and post-inspections of equipment pursuant to Granite's guidelines and manufacture's specifications.

  • Operate and maintain the equipment in accordance with the standards set in place by Granite and manufacturer's specifications.

  • Assist team with other operation support tasks when not operating equipment.

  • May operate other heavy equipment including but not limited to motor grader, track and rubber tire dozers, dump truck, water truck.

  • May train and mentor other equipment operators.

  • Perform other duties as required.


Work Experience
  • Five (5) or more years of experience operating heavy equipment (745 Haul Trucks, Articulated Trucks, Rigid Trucks, Water Tanker Trucks), required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of MSHA regulations, preferred.

  • Ability to operate equipment within designated area with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work, day, swing, and night shifts (occasionally extended hours).

  • Ability to work in constant exposure to outside elements, in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to work in safety sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.

  • Ability to squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions/confined space.

  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Ability and willingness to abide by Granite's Code of Conduct daily.


Physical Demands

  • Physical dexterity, stamina, and excellent hand-eye coordination with ability to grasp, assemble, and lift objects, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods over uneven surfaces, squat, bend, climb ladders onto equipment or other objects, and potentially lie down.

  • Lifting, pushing, pulling of heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.
