AMNH's Center for Biodiversity and Conservation (CBC) works to transform knowledge, from multiple sources and perspectives, into conservation action. Our work encompasses three focal areas: Multi- or inter-disciplinary research on biodiversity that is linked to conservation, action or outcomes; Capacity development for conservation and Convening and connecting of multiple audiences and actors for conservation problem-solving, including through effective communication and collaboration. We aim to draw on multiple strands of knowledge and engage diverse communities of expertise when approaching complex conservation challenges, as well as advance diversity, inclusion and equity in the field of conservation towards a culturally vibrant conservation workforce. The CBC is seeking an Outreach and Program Coordinator to work closely with the CBC Associate Director of Capacity Development and the CBC Director. They will develop an outreach strategy and manage outreach initiatives, develop promotional materials, maintain and update content for websites/social media and manage all CBC-produced publications and resources. Job duties include: Work with the Communications department to integrate CBC outreach initiatives with broader institutional communications strategy across diverse media (e.g., print, digital). Develop and implement a CBC outreach plan that includes strategies and benchmarks. Identify promotional priorities, venues and methods of outreach and forecast resource needs. Write original content and edit copy for departmental publications and promotional materials (e.g., website content, reports, briefings). Assist the Network of Conservation Educators and Practitioners (NCEP) team in the organization and management of the module production process, including writing, editing, reviewing, collaborating closely with authors, creating license agreements/image permissions and publishing/disseminating online. Assist with production/dissemination of the Lessons in Conservation journal. Participate in the planning, organization, implementation and provide administrative support (e.g., tracking grants/expenses, setting up contracts/purchasing requisition, coordinating travel, other logistical support) for CBC Capacity Development events (e.g., Student Conference in Conservation Science, NCEP faculty development workshops, other NCEP dissemination, project-related research, training events), under the guidance of NCEP leadership. Participate as needed/feasible in research leading to evidence-based guidance products for conservation, natural resource management, capacity development and sustainable development. The expected salary range for the Outreach and Production Coordinator is $58,000/annual - $63,000/annual. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience. Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree with coursework or a specialization/major that are relevant to the position, such as science, (e.g., environmental science, conservation biology, natural resource management) or communications, English or other related fields. 3 years experience in writing/editing educational, communications and/or promotional materials. Superb verbal/written communications skills. Preferred Qualifications: Completion of college-level coursework or other training in communications. Experience with event planning and project management. Experience with digital media. Experience in web development, design, maintenance and HTML. Experience in science communications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, InDesign, Photoshop, video editing software and website content management.
