Job Overview






Komatsu is a leading manufacturer of construction, mining, forestry, and industrial heavy equipment and operates eleven Company Owned Dealerships in the Eastern United States.  We currently have exciting opportunities in our East Region (NY, NJ, PA, MD, and DE) for a Technical Communicator   Prior heavy equipment technician experience is a must for this role. 



 



This position is required to support our technicians by providing the needed training to develop skill sets that will improve safety behaviors, machine availability, and reduce operating cost. Provide an effective method to train technicians to meet present and future requirements. Support field work by helping technicians troubleshoot while working on machines. This position supports approximately 7000 machines and 120 technicians, and is vital for support of technician development, product support and company growth. 



 



The department manages high volumes of calls per month to provide support for technicians. Training/developing is the focus to reduce high frequency TC calls. This position provides customer training in the territory.  



 



This position may be hired in Baltimore, MD, Hatfield, PA, Harrisburg, PA, or South Plainfield, NJ. 








Key Job Responsibilities








  • Develop and deliver technical training to all technicians, staff and customers 


  • Assist in developing learning paths for apprentices and entry level technicians  


  • Support technicians in field with TC and complex diagnostics issues 


  • Submit TSI’s and TSR’s as needed, gathering data pertaining to technical/product issues and communicating with manufacturer with problem resolution.  


  • Work closely with OEM Technical Representatives on complex failures 


  • Serve as technical advisor to the service department, assisting in diagnostic testing, repair procedures and participating in performing failure analysis.  


  • Assist Director in making sure training requirements for manufacturer are met  


  • Assist in warranty administration with technical information and merit of claims  


  • Assist all departments with training recommendations as needed 


  • Help drive the Komatsu safety culture  










Qualifications/Requirements








  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required


  • Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent preferred


  • 10 + years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


  • Komatsu or competitive OEM technical experience 


  • Understands the importance of safety 


  • Ability to effectively present and teach information and training to customers, clients, and employees


  • Strong communication skills 


  • Computer Skills including Microsoft Office
