Manufacturing Supervisor - Winston Salem, NC

The opportunity:

The Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for the overall safe operations of their assigned department to include, but not limited to, safety, employee development, housekeeping, maintenance, production, customer satisfaction, quality, planning and scheduling. The Manufacturing Supervisor serves as a key member of the supervisory leadership team. The Manufacturing Supervisor assists in development and evaluation of data and makes recommendations for process improvements.

How you will impact WestRock:


  • Coordinate and direct production workflow; Ensure quality standards, production efficiencies, and timely completion of work orders are met.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to production, and quality issues; maintain a physical presence in the plant.

  • Direct supervision of the shift's manufacturing staff.

  • Evaluate and review Hourly employee performance.

  • Ensure training of shift's production personnel; update and maintain training documentation.

  • Review daily production reports.

  • Issue work orders to the maintenance; Ensure that preventive maintenance is being performed as needed.

  • Interact with various departments and personnel, including other shift supervisors, set up team, and temporary staffing agency (when applicable) to assure production requirements are met.

  • Assist with development and maintenance of cost-effective efficiency and quality improvements.

  • Assist Management in executing operating strategies and plans and achieving company goals and objectives.

  • Establishing and upholding a work environment dedicated to trust and respect.

  • Driving business results. Making data-based decisions at every level.

  • Empowering and engaging operators and subordinates.

  • Doing the right thing for Smurfit Westrock - every time, all the time.

  • Setting vision and establishing objectives for the department.

What you need to succeed:

  • Prior Supervisor experience or at least 5 years corrugated industry experience.

  • Excellent math and communication skills

  • Must be detail oriented.

  • Must be proactive.

  • Must possess strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with and influence all levels.

  • Ability to effectively conduct meetings and training sessions.

  • Computer literate with Microsoft Suite and other office equipment.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.

  • Ability to multi-task and handle several issues at one time.

  • Ability to make independent, effective decisions.

  • Must be willing to work an off shift.
