Senior Bridge Design Engineer - Rail and Transit - Baltimore
Opportunity :
Our Parsons Baltimore office is now hiring for a Senior Bridge Design Engineer to support our rail and transit projects in Maryland and the general region, with a desire to work on both conventional and design/build Bridge programs. You can be a part of a global company that has transformed over 4400 bridges around the world! In this role , you will work with Truss Bridges, Deck and Through Bridges, and Viaducts, and have the technical expertise to deliver any other type of bridge design. This role will support clients such as Amtrak and other transit projects.

In this role, you will plan and design Bridge structures to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. You will be responsible for the development of engineering computations, material quantity take-offs, estimates, surveys and designs. Come join our winning team in Baltimore! This is an office based role that may include working either at our Baltimore office or client field office in the Federal Hill area. This role is 5 days at the office weekly, and does not provide hybrid remote working scenario.
Responsibilities
- Perform conventional and moderately complex bridge engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
- May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-size project.
- Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
- Commitment to quality and continuous improvement through innovation, creative thinking and improved results.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and productive relationships with all employees, clients and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 8 years or more of related work experience with bridge engineering design
- Experience with design engineering of heavy rail bridges for rail transit bridges required
- BS in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis is required
- MS in Structural Engineering is desirable
- PE licensure is highly preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office and Microstation or AutoCAD
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry standard and specialty bridge design and analysis software
