The Opportunity

As a dedicated Software Engineer (Intermediate Level), you will support Workday development at USAA. You will be engaged in all phases of the application development lifecycle which include gathering and analyzing requirements, designing, testing, documenting, and implementing software, responding to outages.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position will be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Colorado Springs, CO, Phoenix, AZ or Charlotte, NC.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Design, develop, code, and test technical solutions.

  • Write code to deliver features, and improvements, on a regular basis.

  • Investigate and resolve technical problems and production issues through troubleshooting techniques.

  • Continually improve operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.

  • Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.

  • Follows the software development lifecycle.

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 4 additional years of experience beyond the minimum requirement can be used in lieu of a degree OR approved certification from CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT (Veterans for IT) or eFIT (Employees for IT).

  • 2 years of software development experience specific to Workday Integrations.

  • 1 year of experience delivering technology solutions in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle.

  • Basic Understanding of one or more of the following: Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL

  • Knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting applications and systems within production issues.

  • Ability to quickly understand applicable business needs to provide appropriate Engineering solutions.

  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.

  • Basic understanding of cloud technologies and tools.

  • One or more Workday certification(s).

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $74,210.00 - $141,830.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
