Part-time Horn Professor – Continuous Pool | Clark College - Military Veterans

This part-time position is an ongoing recruitment in which applications are collected year-round. Applicants must be available to teach the daytime, evening or weekend hours. GENERAL FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES: Instruct classes utilizing techniques and knowledge of the discipline that facilitate student learning. Participate in decision-making processes by taking part in department and college committees. Pursue professional development. Strive to enhance teaching and learning techniques. Work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds. Understand and commit to the mission of Clark College. POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Work with the brass section in a sectional twice each term during the last hour of rehearsal. During the first part of the rehearsal, you will serve as Principal Horn of the orchestra. There will be a third rehearsal that will involve a woodwind, brass, and percussion sectional that you will conduct while the Music Director works with the strings. Play five other rehearsals, the dress rehearsal, and concert. The dates for the dress rehearsal and concerts are fixed; the dates for the sectionals will be agreed upon in consultation with the string coaches. All rehearsals are on Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 9:30. Concerts vary with the availability of the hall. The Music Director will give you copies of the scores to use in the sectionals. While we encourage your professional performance activities, we expect you to reserve the agreed upon dates (or to arrange for a mutually acceptable substitute). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES: Bachelor's Degree in Music, Music Education or a closely related field. Teaching experience. Ability to work well as a member of a team. Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
