Post Doctoral Scholar | The Ohio State University - Military Veterans

at HERC- Ohio/W. PA/ W. VA

The group of Professor DiMauro and Agostini at The Ohio State University has an opening for a Post Doctoral Scholar in experimental atomic and optical physics. The groups current interests are focused on the generation. measurement and application of attosecond pulses, i.e. time-resolved electron dynamics and molecular tomography. A collaboration with SLAC for investigating studying ultrafast dynamics using the LCLS x-ray free-electron laser is ongoing. The group's main interest is studying how electrons move in matter at time scales as fast as attoseconds and length scales as small as angstroms ( https://dimauro.osu.edu/ ). Under the supervision of Professor Louis DiMauro, the Post Doctoral Scholar will work on two main activities: 1) Conducting investigations into a new technique developed by the group which applies attosecond light to simulate fundamental rescattering physics at and beyond the classical limit. 2) Studying fundamental processes of strong field ionization in the low-frequency regime. Minimum Education Required: Doctorate (Academic) with a Major in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Electrical Engineering Required Qualifications: Operation and maintenance of laser systems Operation and maintenance of UHV systems Analysis and interpretation of data related to photoelectron energy analysis Promotes, supports, and fosters a culture of engagement and collaboration. Effective technical communicator. Desired Qualifications: Experience in ultrafast lasers, electron imaging spectrometers and related methods is desired. Experience in supervision and mentoring of students. Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, operate with ambiguities, and develop new techniques and capabilities.
