Assistant Director of Student Involvement Location: Elon University Campus, North Carolina, 27244 Title: Assistant Director of Student Involvement Position Type: Staff Full-Time Days Per Week: Monday - Friday Hours Per Week: 40 VP Area: Student Life Department: Student Involvement Position Summary As a member of the Division of Student Life and the Student Involvement team, the Assistant Directors of Student Involvement assist in leading efforts that engage students in meaningful campus involvement and align their work to advance our strategic plans. These positions support student success by mentoring and coaching through the development of rich relationships. The assistant directors work directly with student leaders and collaborate across the university to provide community and leadership development opportunities that enhance the student experience. As a member of the Student Involvement team, the assistant directors are responsible for serving as active members of the staff in presence and in communication, maintaining a high level of professionalism, and completing various administrative tasks that support the daily operations of the department. This position also works with other Student Involvement Assistant Directors by creating an environment that engages students in transformative co-curricular learning experiences and promotes positive growth and development. In addition, this assistant director is responsible for working closely with student leaders by focusing on the development of rich mentoring relationships. This position is responsible for implementing alternative, late-night programs hosted in collaboration with campus departments and student organizations. This includes providing direction and support for campus late-night programming initiatives, including executing and coordinating late-night events, assisting with streamlining the 'first six weeks' calendar, and advising the Student Union Board (Elon's student programming board). This position also implements fan engagement activities and school spirit initiatives in partnership with Athletics, including Homecoming Week events and student tailgating. This assistant director provides collaborative support in the development of quality, diverse programs that enhance student life at Elon. Preferred Education and Experience Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel, counseling, or related field is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with two to four years of related experience working with programming boards, leadership development, student activities, student organizations, and/or residence life, as well as experience advising students from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Required Other Training, Certifications, or Licensing Job Duties Student Involvement Team Serve as an active member of the Student Involvement staff, contributing to a relationship-rich environment that fosters student growth and success, and supporting broader department programs and events (i.e. new student orientation, fall/spring organization fairs, student tailgating, formal recruitment and intake processes, and Homecoming) Assist with and attend selected high-risk contracted events and programs hosted within the department Monitor budgets totaling more than $500,000; guide spending and secure funding for program initiatives as needed Negotiate, review, and request contracts with agents/students to plan events Assist in aligning assessment and reporting mechanisms with the improvement and strategic planning of the department, division, and university Develop and maintain supportive campus partnerships with colleagues and university departments Assist in aligning department assessment and reporting mechanisms with the strategic planning of the university, Student Life, and Student Involvement Meet with the Associate Director of Student Involvement regularly, actively participate in team meetings, and assume additional responsibilities within the scope of the position as assigned by the associate director Advising and Mentorship Develop a relationship-rich culture by serving as the advisor to the Student Union Board (SUB), student-lead programming board Attend weekly executive meetings, general meetings, and assigned committee meetings Oversee programming education and leadership training opportunities associated with executive board development Develop and coordinate the selection process for new SUB Executive Officers Provide leadership in the planning and execution of fall/spring SUB executive retreats Advise and mentor student leaders in the development, execution, and assessment of late-night, alternative programming Foster relationships with students that model care for the individual, inclusive excellence, personal and peer accountability, and integration with their campus experience Programming and Development Work collaboratively with university programs, departments, and student organizations to provide well-considered student-centered campus programming Coordinate and implement school spirit and fan engagement initiatives, including the Student Tailgating Program in partnership with Athletics and the Phoenix Phanatics Implement comprehensive marketing plans for fan engagement programming and manage all publicity strategies to create campus-wide knowledge of events Plan and implement late-night programming offered during New Student Orientation, in collaboration with university partners Develop the late night programming calendar for the first six weeks of the fall semester Implement a comprehensive marketing plan for late-night programming and manage all publicity strategies to create campus-wide knowledge of events Lead the development of the Homecoming Week calendar of student events and activities with student organization leaders and campus partners Division of Student Life Positively represent Student Involvement, the Division of Student Life, and Elon University in all communications, presentations, and campus involvement Support departmental strategic planning, goal setting, priority completion, evaluation and assessment, and data-driven decision-making Support university events, including, but not limited to: Convocations, Commencement, Family Weekend, Homecoming, and events related to Admissions and/or New Student Orientation Serve as a member of a Student Life Care and Response Team, which includes either serving in a rotational on-call emergency response role or providing initial outreach and follow-up support for student concerns Serve on university, divisional, or departmental committees, task forces, and search committees Other related duties as assigned by the Associate Director To Apply: To apply, visit: https://jobs.elon.edu/jobs/assistant-director-of-student-involvement-elon-university-campus-north-carolina-united-states .
