Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team. Under the direction of the Children's Hospital Access Center Manager, the Access Center Nurse is responsible and accountable for coordinating optimal, safe, effective and timely urgent and emergent transports of critically ill infants, children and high-risk obstetric patients to UCSF Children's Hospital for specialized care. The Access Center Nurse will triage, coordinate and dispatch inter-facility transport calls while providing quality customer focused service. The Access Center nurse will act as liaison between referring and UCSF Physicians, Nursing, Transport Teams, Central Patient Placement, the BCH Nurse Supervisor, financial counseling and admitting to facilitate admissions in a timely manner.
