General Information:
Hitachi Energy's Energy Market Advisory team is seeking a highly-motivated Market Simulation Consultant to provide client support for Hitachi Energy's PROMOD market/portfolio simulation model solution.
Mission Statement:
You will provide authoritative knowledge and expertise to our customers in nodal energy market advisory and strategic consulting (specifically in North America as well as evolving markets such as Japan and Europe) and be able to generate comprehensive technical reports to explain the projects' processes and findings and market conditions for the following areas:
- Short and Long-term Nodal Congestion/Curtailment and Basis Risk Analysis
- Interconnection Process Expertise
- Asset Valuation and Stochastic Analysis
- Nodal Battery/Storage Analysis
- Buy-side and Sell-side Transaction Support
- Market Due Diligence Advisory
- Review of M&A Opportunities
- PPA Analysis and Expert Recommendations
- Renewables Project Sizing & Site Selection Screening
Your Responsibilities:
- In depth support of clients performing nodal and zonal energy market analysis & renewable and battery storage studies using the PROMOD simulation modeling tool.
- Tracking of client queries and development items; use of client portal and other standard support channels
- Provide technical/code support for database administrators, software developers and management.
- Contribute to artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) and data modeling projects.
- PROMOD release testing, defect testing, sprint testing
- PROMOD client training; producing PROMOD client eLearning and help videos
- participate in PROMOD roadmap discussions and prioritizations of defects
- Conduct PROMOD pre-sales demos, demo support, demo database creation as requested.

Your Background:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, technology, engineering or math is required. Electrical Engineering degree in power systems is preferred. Bachelor's plus 3 years or Master's plus 1 year experience is a plus.
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Strong interest in the energy industry; Interest in the consulting field
- Experience with production cost modeling simulation software is a plus
- Familiarity with publicly available data sources FERC, EIA, pipeline informational postings
- Windows skills; software installation and upgrades, reproducing client issues, helping clients, packaging issues for development, confirming fixes, delivering to clients; Application and Network connectivity issues, knowledge of internet Networking and corporate security techniques
- SQLServer support (backup, recovery, installation) connecting databases, setting up remote runs, Power BI support skills
- Ability to read, understand and script/code for data analysis, optimization, or regression (e.g. Python, R, MATLAB, STATA, Perl, PL/SQL, T-SQL, C#, Javascript, or GAMS)
- Experience with/in any of the following is preferred: Applied ML or other data science projects (e.g., Feature Engineering, Predictive Analytics, ML Pipelines); Business Intelligence (BI Tools) including Tableau, Spotfire, Qlikview, and/or Power BI; Cloud based systems on Azure or AWS.
