Associate Director of Student Involvement Location: Elon University Campus, North Carolina, 27244 Title: Associate Director of Student Involvement Position Type: Staff Full-Time Days Per Week: Monday - Friday Hours Per Week: 40 VP Area: Student Life Department: Student Involvement Position Summary As a member of the Division of Student Life and the Student Involvement team, the Associate Directors of Student Involvement lead efforts that engage students in meaningful campus involvement. These positions support student success by mentoring and coaching through the development of rich relationships. The associate directors work directly with student leaders and collaborate with others across the university to provide community and leadership development opportunities that enhance the student experience and advance the department's strategic plans. As leaders within the Student Involvement team, the associate directors are responsible for serving as active members of the staff in presence and in communication, maintaining a high level of professionalism, and completing various administrative tasks that support the daily operations of the department. This Associate Director serves as a visionary leader and provides direction and leadership to the development of programs and experiences that engage students through meaningful campus involvement. This position is the department's primary resource for all student organizations and supports student organization development. This position creates and manages a collection of resources for student organization leaders, including the fraternity and sorority community, and advisors. They have responsibilities overseeing and managing PhoenixCONNECT, our online engagement platform. The Associate Director leads student organization leadership development programs and trainings in partnership with colleagues across campus. This position provides collaborative support in the development of quality, diverse programs and activities that enhance student life and works with students and staff to actively encourage meaningful student involvement and engagement opportunities at Elon. Minimum Required Education and Experience Completed master's degree in higher education, student personnel, or related field Preferred Education and Experience At least 3-5 years of progressive post-master's experience in campus activities, student organization support, student involvement or a related functional area in higher education. Required Other Training, Certifications, or Licensing Job Duties STUDENT ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT Provide strategic direction and structure in the development of programs and services that support Elon's recognized student organizations, student organization leaders, and organization advisors Lead the administrative management of Elon's online student involvement platform, PhoenixCONNECT (Campus Labs Engage), as a main source for connecting students, organizations, and university departments, and identifying opportunities for student engagement Responsible for leading the development of training curriculum and resources for our student organization leaders and advisors in collaboration with the Center for Leadership, creating marketing and communication materials, and actively facilitating program planning and implementation with our student leaders Serve as primary resource and point of contact for organization leaders and advisors in navigating PhoenixCONNECT, including assisting in the establishment and management of group profiles, student and campus-wide events, leadership/membership rosters, and forms Provide strategic direction to the development and administration of new and existing student organizations, including the annual renewal process, review of constitutions/bylaws, and verification of organization leadership/ membership rosters Lead efforts for maintaining, updating, and communicating university and student organization policies and procedures in collaboration with university partners Disseminate and educate student organization leaders and advisors on the Recognized Student Organization Handbook and resources Provides guidance and support of the student organization event registration and approval process Manage communication to organization leaders and advisors, including ensuring seamless communication between Student Involvement, the Student Government Association, the Moseley Center, the Center for Leadership, and Athletics Oversee the planning and implementation of the fall and/or spring organization fairs CAMPUS ACTIVITIES Provide department leadership in the development of strategies, services, and programs that engage students in meaningful involvement opportunities and enhance the campus experience Support staff in their advisement and work with the Student Union Board (the university's programming board) and Elonthon (the university's dance marathon) Support development and implementation of fan engagement initiatives, including the Student Tailgating Program Advise the student Homecoming Committee and lead the development of the Homecoming Week calendar of student events and activities with student organization leaders and campus partners Lead the development and advise implementation of campus-wide events and programs, including contract negotiation and execution and the review and vetting processes STUDENT INVOLVEMENT Serve as an active member of the Student Involvement staff, contribute to a relationship-rich environment that fosters student growth and success, and support broader department programs and events (i.e. new student orientation, fall/spring organization fairs, student tailgating, formal recruitment and intake processes, and Homecoming) Develop and maintain supportive campus partnerships with colleagues and university departments Provide advisement in maintaining and updating university and student organization policies and procedures in collaboration with university partners Align assessment and reporting mechanisms with the improvement and strategic planning of the department, division, and university Positively represent Student Involvement, the Division of Student Life, and Elon University in all communications, presentations, and campus involvement Meet with the Director of Student Involvement on a regular basis, actively participate in team meetings, and assume additional responsibilities within the scope of the position as assigned by the director - (Essential) ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Support departmental strategic planning, goal setting, priority completion, evaluation and assessment, and data-driven decision making Provide departmental leadership in the absence of the director Support university events, including, but not limited to: Convocations, Commencement, Family Weekend, Homecoming, and events related to Admissions and/or New Student Orientation Serve as a member of a Student Life Care and Response Team, which includes either serving in a rotational on-call emergency response role or providing initial outreach and follow-up support for student concerns Serve on university, divisional, or departmental committees, task forces, and search committees Other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean / Director To Apply: To apply, visit: https://jobs.elon.edu/jobs/associate-director-of-student-involvement-elon-university-campus-north-carolina-united-states .
