How you will impact WestRock:

  • Journeyman level Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic
  • Experience working on machinery such as Caterpillar 988H, 988K, D9, excavator, skid steers, Grove mobile cranes, miscellaneous forklifts, light duty, and heavy-duty trucks.
  • May be required to work from elevated platforms, scaffolds, etc. as necessary.
  • May be required to work night shift, weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Interpersonal skills required. Must be able to effectively communicate.
  • Will require utilization of expanded skills including but not limited to:
  • Ability to troubleshoot complicated hydraulic circuits and systems on vehicles such as lift trucks, bucket loaders, and crawlers, with special emphasis on pilot-controlled systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair power shift transmissions on heavy equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complicated electrical systems on mobile cranes, heavy equipment, and electronic controlled lift trucks.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, etc.
What you need to succeed:
  • Experience and training in engine repairs both Diesel and Gas, Hydraulics, Air brakes, Electronics, and Tier 4 emission.
  • Best applicants will have 4+ years of successful experience
  • Ability to read English, do basic mathematical calculations, and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Valid in-state driver's license.
  • Driving history adequate for obtaining vehicular insurance through dealership's commercial insurance carrier.
  • Knowledge of automobiles and their working components, and ability to diagnose and repair automobiles.
  • Effective analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new technology, procedures, and specifications.
  • Ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
  • Ability to physically operate all equipment required for the job.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull 25 lbs. or greater.
  • Ability to operate a PC, and used dealership software programs
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push or pull as needed to perform job functions.

Compensation Offered
  • Starting wage of $39.58/hour.
