The Opportunity

As a Security Architect you will be empowered to have an impact on our Cloud Security program. As a subject matter expert, you will be developing, designing, and implementing Cloud Security solutions. You will be the primary person responsible for Cloud Security at Ascend collaborating with other resources across multiple disciplines and solutions to ensure that our Cloud Security solutions are secure, interoperate, and enable the business to do what they do best. 

Job Responsibilities

As a Security Architect for Cloud Security, you will have the responsibility of analyzing and translating business, information, and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve business objectives. You will accomplish this through the below tasks:

• Collaborate with the Ascend Cyber Security team to create a new strategic plan for Cloud Security


• Define policies and standards in alignment with enterprise security and architecture requirements


• Create and maintain roadmaps within the technology and architecture strategy


• Ensure design and architecture information is well documented, up-to-date, and communicated to the relevant stakeholders


• Engage and collaborate with business users to understand business requirements


• Assist in or lead the definition of systems solutions to functional mange our Cloud Platforms, conforming to established system architecture standards and practices


• Perform day-to-day operational activities as needed to maintain the Cloud Platforms

Ascend currently has a minimal cloud footprint so you will also be working with the security engineering team on other aspects of the Cyber program:

• You will be part of the on-call rotation supporting incident responses.


• Leading and participating in projects related to the infrastructure and incident response programs.


• Defining key performance indicators to support security operations.


• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of Cloud Security requirements and platforms


• Minimum 4 years of experience with cloud security solutions within a large-scale enterprise environment


• Good understanding of Azure, AWS and Google Cloud platforms


• Practical operational knowledge of all types of cloud platforms


• Demonstrated success in assessing and articulating requirements for process and system improvements, understanding of IT infrastructure and operations management


• Demonstrated effective relationship management and collaboration skills


•  Analytical and innovative mindset, result and service oriented, eagerness to tackle challenges and adjust to changes

Ideal Qualifications

• Experience with installation, configuration and maintenance of cloud security tools and platforms


• Experience with templating languages such as CloudFormation and Terraform


• Experience managing Compliance, Infrastructure, and Configuration as code


• Experience with Cloud Posture Security Management via cloud native tooling and/or third party tools such as Wiz.io or Prisma Cloud


• Experience implementing CIS relevant cloud baselines
