The candidate selected will serve as the inaugural Beatrice âœBeanâ E. Robinson, Ph.D. Endowed Chair in Clinical Sexual Health for the Eli Coleman Institute for Sexual and Gender Health (ISGH), Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis, Minnesota. They will support the development and expansion of clinical outcome research that contributes to the advancement of sex therapy and sexual health. The successful candidate's own research and clinical practice in sexual health will complement existing ISGH priorities, and support sustained excellence and continued growth in clinical excellence within ISGH.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Funding for developing new empirical knowledge about sexual health issues, sexual dysfunctions, and clinical outcomes is at an all-time low. The holder of this chair will initiate and develop evidence-based clinical outcome research leading to best clinical practices and approaches to sexual dysfunctions and sexual health more generally.
- The Chair will provide leadership in clinical sexual health care and research for ISGH --- in coordination with the ISGH Director, Director of Research, and Director of Clinical Services, and the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health's (DFMCH) Vice Chair for Research, and Vice Chair for Clinical Care.
- Provide individual, group, couple, and family psychotherapy for sexual dysfunctions and other sexual health concerns from a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and intersectional framework.
- Collaborate with other researchers within the University of Minnesota, nationally, and internationally to promote research in key areas of clinical sexual health and sexual dysfunctions --- maintaining a funded personal program of clinical outcome research commensurate with rank.
- Support advancement of clinical sexual health excellence at ISGH, within professional organizations, and within the field broadly. This may require collaboration and consultation with experts in quantitative and qualitative psychotherapy outcome research more broadly --- perhaps within the fields of psychology and family studies.
- Support mentorship of faculty and staff and development of future projects at ISGH related to clinical sexual health.
- Disseminate research findings through national and international presentations and publications.
- Serve on committees within ISGH, DFMCH, the Medical School, and/or beyond which are appropriate in relation to the role.
Allocation of time to clinical or teaching responsibilities will be determined.
This clinician-researcher position is expected to be hired at the Associate or Full Professor level with tenure. Faculty rank and appointment will be commensurate with background and training, and will depend upon approval by the department Promotion and Tenure Committee and the Medical School.

Required Qualifications:
- An established track record of scholarly activity including publications and presentations pertaining to human sexuality.
- Evidence of leadership in clinical sexual health.
- Passion, interest, and desire to conduct research in outcome-based clinical research in the field of human sexuality and sex therapy
- PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree.
- License eligible in Minnesota.
- Experienced clinician in treating a wide variety of sexual health concerns.
- Demonstrated potential for obtaining federal or other peer-reviewed funding relevant to clinical sexual health.
- A clear record demonstrating commitment to equity.
- Experience in working in an academic health care setting.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience conducting outcome-based clinical/psychotherapy research, preferably in sexual health
- Qualification and experience in clinical supervision.
- AASECT-certified or ability and willingness to get AASECT certification
- Experience in clinical supervision, clinical teaching, and/or graduate teaching.
- Clinical training and experience in one or more additional areas of excellence at ISGH.
