Job Summary and Qualifications
The Occupational Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by managing the complete process of occupational therapeutic care of an assigned group of patients, in coordination with the physician and the patient care team. The Occupational Therapist completes patient assessments, and participates in developing and implementing individualized care plans, focusing on goal achievement, patient engagement, and positive patient experience. The Occupational Therapist provides or directs a majority of the patient’s physical therapy to support patients throughout home health and the continuum of care.
We are currently looking for an ambitious Occupational Therapist to our team. As our Therapist, you will be a skilled member of the health care team and provide therapeutic services to patients using initial assessments, therapeutic procedures and interventions in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the hospital and applicable law. Your duties and responsibilities may include:
- You will treat disabilities, injuries and disease using therapeutic techniques according to prescriptions from a physician, performs testing and evaluation procedures on patients.
- You will record and document patient observation, treatment and changes in condition. You will also monitor, analyze and review clinical data. Also, you will reevaluate and modify treatment plans and goals based upon patient performance.
- You will communicate clearly and provide explanation of care in a way that can be easily understood by patients and their families. Also, ensure patient's family is informed of patient status.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy; Masters preferred.
- Experience in appropriate healthcare setting preferred.
- Current Florida Occupational Therapist license.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA (American Heart Association).
- Current FIM (Functional Independence Measure) required (within 90 days of hire).
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills; ability to read/comprehend written instructions; ability to follow verbal instructions; PC skills.
What you will do in this role:
- You will provide evaluations and treatment interventions within the scope of practice established by law and professional code of ethics.
- You will assess and evaluate therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status. You will participate in patient placement and in the development of the total plan of care.
- You will provide purposeful and skilled interaction care. You will use procedures and techniques to produce a change in condition/function consistent with the physician’s plan of care.
- You will observe and report patient’s reaction to treatment and changes in patient’s condition.
- You will communicate pertinent payor needs/requirements to physician, treatment team, patient and patient’s family in a timely manner.
- You will prioritize caseload, determine daily staffing needs and coordinate assignments/handoffs.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Registered Occupational Therapist (ROT)
