This position will receive on-the-job training and vocational education in order to complete the requirements of a QCW Carpentry job classification within a period of time normally not to exceed two years. This Skilled Trades Apprentice - Carpentry position is a permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours/week position. The work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The hourly rate is $24.61 and is non-negotiable. Please note, the hourly rate is increasing to $25.23 on June 28, 2024. PLEASE NOTE: ON-THE-JOB TRAINING RECEIVED AT THE SKILLED TRADES APPRENTICE - CAPRENTRY LEVEL WILL BE PRIMARILY ON 1 ST SHIFT, DURING THE ESTABLISHED WORK HOURS, BUT SOME TRAINING MAY BE REQUIRED TO BE COMPLETED ON OVERTIME DURING EVENING HOURS, OR ON WEEKENDS. ONCE THE SUPERVISOR AND MANAGER DETERMINE THAT THE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS HAVE BEEN MET FOR THE SKILLED TRADES APPRENTICE CARPENTRY POSITION, AND IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT THE APPRENTICE POSSESSES THE ABILITY TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY AT THE TARGET LEVEL OF THE POSITION, THE APPRENTICE WOULD THEN BE PROMOTED TO THE TARGET LEVEL OF QCW CARPENTRY. APPRENTICES ARE EVALUATED AT THREE MONTHS, SIX MONTHS AND ANNUALLY. AN APPRENTICE MUST COMPLETE AT LEAST ONE YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT IN ORDER TO BECOME ELIGIBLE TO BE PROMOTED TO THE TARGET LEVEL OF QCW; MOST APPRENTICES ARE PROMOTED TO THE TARGET LEVEL WITHIN A PERIOD NORMALLY NOT TO EXCEED TWO YEARS.
