Job Summary
Dominion Energy’s Millstone Nuclear Power Station located in Waterford, Connecticut has Military Fellowship positions available which align to our Senior Reactor Operator in Training position. The Military Fellowship program is intended to support Millstone’s long-term staffing needs by providing participants a valuable experience that can lead to fulltime employment upon separation from the military. This work experience may be up to 180 days, as agreed upon by the selected servicemember and approved by their military command.
This is a non-union job which is to be based at Millstone Nuclear Power Station.
The Senior Reactor Operator in Training (SROIT) position is part of the Operations Department at Millstone Power Station. Upon successful completion of the training program, incumbents will be trained to provide technical and operational leadership to assist with the supervision of licensed and non-licensed nuclear operators on an assigned shift.
Trainees are being prepared to be responsible for the overall safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a nuclear power plant, under all conditions, in accordance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's regulations and Dominion's Operating Specifications and Standards.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
+ 7+ years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience.
+ Eligible military servicemembers must have a minimum rank of E-6
+ Preferred Candidates will have a rank of O-3 or higher
+ HS diploma or GED plus the equivalent of 60 hours of college level instruction in math, chemistry, materials, reactor theory, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, electrical and reactor control theory
+ 18 months or more in a position equivalent to reactor operator at a military reactor (qualified to manipulate or direct the manipulation of control rods) - Qualifying titles include: Engineering Officer of the Watch, Propulsion Plant Watch Officer; Engineering Watch Supervisor; Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities
+ demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the operation of nuclear reactor, turbine generator equipment and related computer controls
+ has successfully completed the Naval Nuclear Program and has related work experience
+ demonstrates a sincere respect for the need for attention to all matters affecting nuclear safety
+ demonstrated leadership skill and ability to provide clear work direction, develop work schedules, and make decisions.
+ skilled in problem solving and problem resolution.

+ Required: High School Graduate, GED
+ Preferred Candidates will possess Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Engineering Technology or closely related field
