Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

(Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in this position.)

  • Understands and follows all safety regulations, practices, and procedures, related to this position.
  • Assists with mechanical repairs and adjustments on power drives, brakes, and steering, electrical, cooling, or related systems on a variety of light and heavy equipment.
  • Assists with preventive maintenance, inspects, dismantles, and assembles heavy equipment.
  • Maintains and repairs the tools necessary to perform their job.
  • Assists with repairs and/or assists with repairs of hydraulic systems and other specialized related equipment.
  • Assists with testing of completed work for defects and ensuring it conforms to specifications.
  • Assists with plant processing repairs, as required.


Other Job Functions:

  • Operates heavy equipment occasionally (to test and/or position) and may move equipment from one site to another for repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Entry level knowledge of the mechanical operation of many different types of heavy equipment and their systems, including electrical, brake, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of Safety Practices and procedures.
  • Entry level knowledge of heavy equipment parts and replacement parts.
  • Skill in the use of welders, air compressors, air tools, cutting torch, and various hand tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to assists with analyzing, evaluating, and detecting malfunctioning heavy equipment and makes the necessary repairs
  • Ability to work and communicate with others as a team.


Physical Requirements:

Work in this class will include sitting, walking, bending, stooping, lifting weights, with

assistance. Work will include both indoor and outdoor activity where the employee is exposed to the elements of Nature. Employee will be working with oils and chemicals and is expected to use proper PPE. Employee must be able to maneuver in tight places, climb ladders, step on and off machinery, and operate a motor vehicle. Must wear the required safety apparel in all areas of the job function.
