Join a team of Research, Design, Test, & Evaluation (RDT&E) professionals who are identifying, developing, demonstrating, and assessing technologies and concepts to help protect America's homeland in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Office of Mission and Capability Support (MCS).
Amentum is actively seeking a Senior Power BI Developer to play a pivotal role in designing and implementing advanced BI solutions to drive strategic decision-making across DHS. The successful candidate will drive project execution in collaboration with DHS S&T leaders, Component staffs, contract team members, and other subject matter experts and supporting organizations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform raw data into actionable insights that empowers law enforcement and intelligence communities to operationalize and act on essential information to protect the Nation against dangerous people and materials.
The position will be on-site in customer offices around Sterling, VA for an initial 90-day trial period, after which the opportunity exists to establish a hybrid schedule.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support business objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand business requirements, translating them into technical specifications.
- Optimize Power BI solutions for performance and usability.
- Develop and implement data models, queries, and stored procedures to support reporting and analytics.
- Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights to inform business decisions.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security within the Power BI environment.
- Stay current with the latest Power BI features, best practices, and industry trends to continuously enhance our BI capabilities.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members.
- Collaborate with project teams to solve complex technical problems.
- Advise program management team on matters affecting project success.
- Represent the organization in meetings and conferences as required.
- Support additional Amentum DHS opportunities as directed.
Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship
- Must obtain DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) approval to start and maintain Public Trust suitability status
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in BI and database development with a focus on PowerBI.
- Proven expertise in Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), Power Query, and advanced data modeling techniques.
- Strong Structured Query Language (SQL) skills, including experience with complex queries and optimization.
- Expert level experience with Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes and tools.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Quals:
- Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert
- Active Public Trust designation
