Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The newly funded Cystic Fibrosis Research Development Seed Program at Washington University seeks researchers to help establish a Cellular Models and Physiology Core Laboratory. This laboratory, under the Direction of Ron Rubenstein, MD, PhD, and Deepika Polineni, MD, MPH, will support multiple developing collaborations within WashU that aim to address fundamental questions focused on the interaction of the epithelia and immune systems in CF. Work in the lab will include enabling the collaborative use of epithelial models derived from primary or induced pluripotent stem cells, as well as manipulation and assessment of these models using techniques of cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, microscopy, and epithelial electrophysiology. This core will also endeavor to create systems by which the influence of isolated immune/inflammatory cells may influence epithelial function, and vice versa, and how these interactions may be influenced by gene therapy or gene editing. Job Description Working Conditions This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals. Salary Range Base pay is commensurate with experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with one or more of the following: Molecular biology, cloning, PCR, cell culture, immune based detection (immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, ELISA), fluorescence microscopy, and epithelial electrophysiology.  Computer skills including Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism.  Required Qualifications Candidates must hold at least a bachelors degree, and candidates with more experience and advanced graduate training are especially encouraged to apply.  Candidates with prior experience in cell biology, molecular biology, and especially epithelial physiology or related fields are also encouraged to apply.
