Position Specific Description

Do you want to make a positive impact by ensuring that our operations department is firing on all cylinders and our customers are satisfied? Join NextEra Energy Resource's retail energy division focused on maximizing customer satisfaction through optimal billing and transaction management performance. This role is responsible for all billing and transaction management for mass markets within the operations function. The role will have 3-4 direct reports.

Job Overview

The Sr. Manager of Billing and Transaction Management - Retail Gas will report directly to the Sr. Director of Operations. In this role, the manager will be responsible for all billing and transaction management functions within Operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all customer invoices are generated in a timely and accurate manner
  • Manage all aspects of the day-to-day billing and transaction management process to ensure all metrics are achieved and customers are satisfied
  • Act as liaison between internal and external teams to accomplish all billing and transaction management strategic initiatives
  • Set the strategic direction for the department and work with direct reports to achieve that vision
  • Resolve issues real time and with little direction
  • Real time analysis of invoices to identify issues and correct then in a timely manner
  • Management of billing vendor to resolve issues and implement solutions to improve performance
  • Achieve all billing and transaction metrics (e.g., unbilled, timeliness, accuracy, etc.)
  • Management of utility relationships and interact with utility to solve problems when necessary
  • Oversight of the utility sync process to ensure customer details are accurate in billing system
  • Responsibility for enrolling customers on time and accurately
  • Responsibility for the MarkeTrak process
  • Management of all EDI transactions to ensure they are processed correctly
  • Conducting data analysis and deep dives to support the business
  • Ensure function has the appropriate controls to proactively identify issues before they arise
  • Managing complex projects with cross-functional team members
  • Preparing and communicating updates and recommendations through PowerPoint and excel
  • Achieve all cost targets for the billing and transaction management team
  • Other operational support duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance / Business / Engineering / IT or related field
  • Experience - 7+ years in retail energy or related field
  • Experience - 5+ years leading a team of individuals in a management capacity
  • Experience leading a retail energy billing and/or transaction management function
  • Master's or advanced degree

This position is responsible managing the billing and transaction management process and supporting the Company's residential and commercial segments. The leader in this position is responsible for delivering best in class operations performance with a keen focus on key metrics and outcomes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day activities of a production Billing and Transaction Management organization including throughput processing, exception monitoring and issue resolution
  • Identify and recommend process improvement solutions for increased overall performance, productivity and capability
  • Develop and direct outcome driven initiatives to increase performance and deliver process improvement solutions
  • Create an approach within Billing and Transaction Management focused on positive customer experience and creating customer value through relentless performance delivery
  • Provide analytical and technical solutions to difficult system/customer related problems

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: 10+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters' Degree
