Summary

This position will partner with operations, field service and human resources in the planning, directing and implementing of the organization's health/safety/environmental compliance programs to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement programs and policies for monitoring and preventing physical and biological hazards at the Cherry Valley, Pecatonica, Souderton and field service locations.

  • Performs field and safety measurements, safety evaluation and hazardous waste evaluations.

  • Maintains material data sheets, monitoring of instrumentation and equipment, and implements or recommends control measures for exposure to hazardous materials or conditions.

  • Maintains working knowledge of new developments in industry and government regulations.

  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.

  • Ensures managers and employees are trained in worksite safety practices, fire prevention and correct handling techniques for machinery, equipment, and chemicals.

  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures are implemented.

  • Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.

  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.

  • Partners with facility Safety Committee(s) in identifying and resolving identified concerns.

  • Develops and facilitates training for workers on issues related to health and safety.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Effective communication skills; verbal, written as well as listening skills. Able to successfully communicate to various levels within the organization.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations required.

  • Possess strong IT skills (such as MS Office, Word, Excel, ERP, etc.)

  • Possess an elevated level of professionalism when interacting with employees, management, or outside individuals.

  • Ability to work in a demanding environment and successfully juggle competing priorities.

  • Possess a high level of attention to detail & accuracy.

  • Possess strong influencing, problem solving and creative thinking skills.

  • Possess strong integrity and ethical standards.

  • Ability to travel as required to visit other Ipsen facilities or attend off site training programs.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree is required, preferred in a related field (business management, occupational health & safety, operations management, etc.)

  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing or related industrial operations experience required.

  • Prior leadership experience preferred.

  • Prior OSHA 10- or 30-hour training preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
