About Our Group and Role

The NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) team is part of our Enterprise Quality organization that focuses on ensuring part integrity and compliance to engineering type design by utilizing non destructive methods (UT, ET, MT, PT, and RT) to test our aircrafts and parts during production. In addition to the NDT Methods, Technicians utilize, Solumina, SAP, and Microsoft Suite. Our Techs work with many cross functional teams and suppliers, strong communication skills are required. Flexibility to work any shift is required.

About the Role

- Preferred to have ASNT Level 3 certifications in Ultrasonics (UT) and Eddy Current (ET)

- Preferred to have experience with both composite (carbon fiber and carbon fiber bonded structure (honeycomb)) and metals (AL, steel, titanium)

- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science or technical curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 10 years years prior aerospace experience (Commercial, DOD Department of Defense) in NDT and quality systems related to working with composites and metals in manufacturing, repair and inspection of aircraft, space systems, motorsports, marine or armament.

Position Purpose:

Leads successful completion of major NDT/engineering programs, or conceives research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of Gulfstream products and services including advanced composites and metals processes specifically with regard to production testing criteria, equipment, methodology and specification development for production acceptance testing. Capable of performing Assigned or Responsible Level 3 NDT duties.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Establish standards for and/or develop NDT procedures to ensure robust process control including the Gulfstream Shop Practice Manual or Service Manuals as assigned.


  • Lead root cause and corrective action of NDT related MRB to eliminate repetitive rework and continuously improve existing techniques balancing technical product, cost, and schedule.


  • Team leadership of cross-functional product teams (PDT).


  • Identify appropriate methods/techniques for NDT inspection of pre-cured/co-cured or manufactured composite and metals components/articles.


  • Measure and document the capabilities of production inspection methods relative to flaw size and type to support development of robust design incorporating NDT inspection capabilities.


  • Interpret Engineering drawings/requirements and develop recommendations for management and engineering staff to determine quality standards for nondestructive testing.


  • Develop and assess NDT evaluation technologies in support of new and existing programs and improve manufacturing process inspection using NDT methods.


  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in the field of composites and/or related manufacturing technologies in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company products, equipment and services.


  • Provide certification and training services for Gulfstream as assigned.


  • Interacts with senior internal/external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.


  • Additional Functions:
  • Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product. .


  • Other preferred. experience .


  • Advanced composite experience (production and applications) .


  • Experience with FAA or equivalent production approval inspection methods and approval. .


  • Extensive experience with interpreting codes and specifications, writing/reviewing NDE procedures, techniques & NDE engineering process specifications. .


  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Other Requirements:
  • ASNT SNT-TC-1A - Level III (Qualified/Certified) preferred. in all five principal Gulfstream NDT methods (Minimum 2 of 3 primary methods (ET, RT, and UT) with others supported over time.


  • Capable of operating data analysis and computer software for NDT testing.
