Location: Bedford, MA Category: Part-time Faculty Posted On: Fri Jun 9 2023 Job Description: Title :Adjunct Instructor, Science Unit : DCE Adjunct Faculty Department : Academic Affairs Division, Science Department Reports to :Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Date : June 9, 2023 General Summary :Middlesex Community College seeks to fill part-time adjunct science (Chemistry, Biology, and Physics) faculty positions for in-person lecture and laboratory courses beginning the fall 2023 semester. The College's adjunct science instructors are knowledgeable and creative professionals who have a demonstrated commitment to working with the College's diverse students and community. The College is committed to hiring creative and knowledgeable individuals that have expertise in this area. Duties and Responsibilities : Provide instruction for a group of up to 24 students in a classroom; Ability to instruct in at least one of the following courses: Introduction to Chemistry, College Chemistry I & II, General Biology I, Microbiology, Physics I & II (non-science majors) Develop and use student-centered pedagogies Develop and use assessment strategies that maximize the developmental learning process and measure student learning outcomes Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities Develop and apply technology in and out of the classroom Use Blackboard Learning Management System to post syllabi, assignments, and grades Participate in the end-of-the-term grading session of a common final assessment Fulfill terms of the faculty contract as set out in the Agreement between the Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council/Massachusetts Teachers Association Job Requirements: Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or a closely related field Classroom teaching of high school or college science courses Demonstrated commitment to diversity, continuous professional improvement, developmental education, inclusive pedagogies, and use of technology to support student learning Willingness to work collegially with a diverse body of faculty and staff Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the role of the community college in higher education. Experience with equity-minded work and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, veterans, and individuals with different academic preparation levels and varying physical and learning abilities. Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate degree preferred Bilingual skills a plus Working knowledge of MS Word, Blackboard LMS, and PC Additional Information: Salary Range : DCE Adjunct Faculty are paid in accordance with the DCE Step Levels provided in the Collective Bargaining Agreement Location : Lowell or Bedfordcampus as needed Hours :Adjunct faculty can teach up to three courses per semester Expected Start Date : September2023 Application Deadline :This position will remain open until filled
