Job Description : Senior FP&A Specialist - Assumed P&C Reinsurance industry

Position Overview : responsible for financial reporting and financial projections for the reporting segment and for delivering meaningful analysis to Senior Management in support of decision making. This role requires excellent analytical and problem solving skills, strong ability to leverage technology as well as good communication and presentation skill.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Model financial projections (annual budget and re-forecast) for the reporting segment, including revenue and expenses projections based on assumptions provided by Senior Management.
  • Present and analyze projections, including variance analysis, scenario modeling, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including underwriting, claims, operations, and actuarial departments.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports (including executive commentary) to Senior Management and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze financial results and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Work closely with other members of the finance & accounting team to ensure compliance with accounting standards, company controls & policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform accounting duties including reconciliation and ledger entries.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field. Accounting certification such as CPA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance experience, with a focus on financial planning and analysis, within the reinsurance industry,
  • Strong command of reinsurance industry concepts, terminology, and financial metrics.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
Technical Competencies:

Proficiency in PeopleSoft is a plus
  • Understanding of PeopleSoft queries and reporting tools to extract and analyze financial data effectively.
  • Journal Entries.
SQL for Sub-Ledger Analysis:
  • Be able to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from sub-ledgers, databases, or data warehouses.
  • Knowledge of creating SQL queries for financial analysis, reconciliations, reconciling sub-ledgers to general ledger, and validating data integrity.
  • Ability to write SQL code for ad hoc reporting needs, financial data reconciliations, and automation of financial processes.
Advanced Excel Skills:
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functionalities, including Power Query, to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
  • Strong knowledge of Pivot tables, data visualization, and spreadsheet modeling techniques to analyze and present financial data effectively.
  • Experience in developing Excel-based financial models, macros, and automation of repetitive tasks.
