Director, IT Vendor Management - Military Veterans

Medline Industries has an immediate opening for a Director, IT Vendor Management! This position will be based out of our Northfield, IL headquarters but may require travel to other Medline and vendor locations. The role will offer a hybrid model of work. The Director, IT Vendor Management leads the technology procurement function providing vision and leadership to ensure the efficient operation of the Vendor Management team. This includes technology vendor contract negotiation, contract renewals, vendor relationship management, and owns the procurement of technology products. The Director will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and operational IT sourcing, software asset management, and operations processes to ensure the organization attains the best value in the goods and services required to enable achievement of its goals. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with enterprise procurement systems. Candidates must have experience leading a coherent technology vendor management/ procurement process including evaluation, selection & ongoing management including KPI's to effectively measure performance.

The responsibilities of the position include:


  • Provides thought leadership in vendor strategy, operations, innovation and efficiency improvements

  • Manage and optimize vendor operations for our IT operations and other external business unit stakeholders

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financials to support vendor operations, responsibilities, goals, and objectives

  • Conduct business reviews with strategic vendors, measure performance, and establish plans for continuous improvement

  • Prepare analytics, metrics, dashboards to demonstrate business problems, solutions, benefits for vendor management team

  • Responsible and accountable for developing a strategic business plan for the vendor management department that will meet current and future business goals

  • Successful translation of organizational focus and strategic objectives to vendors

  • Develops, achieves and maintains the reporting on portfolio level Key Performance Indicators

  • Ensure that all of the terms and conditions of an agreement are thoroughly reviewed and documented, and risk to Medline is mitigated

  • Implementation of risk management plans, quality agreements, and robust relationship management plans

  • Oversees the maintenance and inventory of technology contract data including the support, warranty, lease, maintenance and software contract and license information

  • Ensures that IT Service Managers renew and re-negotiate their contracts in a timely manner and with cost optimization

  • Ensures creation of accurate purchase requisitions through approval process and timely vendor payment

  • Leads the forming of procurement strategies to optimize technology spend across the organization

  • Managing the skills and competency development of procurement staff, including training and development and knowledge management capabilities

  • Leads software asset management strategy



Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Relevant Work Experience

  • Demonstrated experience building and forming functional teams with strong leadership skills

  • Team player at executive levels to collaborate with business units and functional partners such as IT, Finance, HR, Legal, etc.

  • 10 years IT experience or applicable IT vendor management/ procurement role

  • 5 years of experience in leadership roles

  • Experience developing and managing an ITSM Service Portfolio Management Program

  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills and ability to manage complex budgets and other financials using Microsoft Excel

  • Experience in effective and successful vendor negotiations to optimize costs with the largest IT vendors such as Microsoft and SAP

  • Experience in developing procurement strategy and negotiating IT software, services and hardware agreements

  • Experience with all aspects of vendor oversight or alliance management - from contract development, to selection, to performance management

  • Experience with developing and managing vendor governance models at a functional or cross-organizational level

Additional

  • Familiar with IT trends such as Cloud Computing and AI


  • Strong ability to lead and manage teams and motivate subordinates

  • Demonstrated ability to influence while maintaining positive business relationships

  • Comfortable presenting to executive staff or leadership staff and advocating for the right outcome

In 2002, Medline began delivering products in the Chicagoland area with a single truck. Today, Medline’s MedTrans transportation fleet has grown to more than 1,500 vehicles, delivering nearly 80% of Medline U.S. product sales and providing consistent, exceptional end-to-end supply chain service.
