The Opportunity

Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Master Data Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for the Master Data strategy, overseeing Master Data standards, rules, and data quality, and managing the Master Data team. You will also be responsible and accountable for defining end-to-end data solutions for SAP master data, EDI data, and other supported systems. This role will be a key contact for the business to coordinate data strategy, analysis, cleansing, extraction, and improvement of data and data processes.

How You'll Make a Difference


  • Provide leadership, ownership, strategy, and coordination of processes from a master data perspective. The primary responsibility is to develop the Master Data team into an in-depth analytical team; understanding the processes in all data areas and how master data interacts and supports sales, product strategy, purchasing, and finance transactions and processes.

  • Understand the data impact across other processes. Key resources when new functionality or business models are necessary in an area to develop the new data model to support the changes and ensure that they will not negatively impact other areas.

  • Manage and mentor the Master Data team and ensure that documentation is complete and accurate. Improve master data processes by ensuring the highest-quality data is delivered, managed, and maintained via a master data governance strategy.

  • Collaborate with IT and other project teams as new business or SAP functionality is developed and implemented. Owner of developing and implementing the master data plan with the project team, ensuring that master data standards are met and new standards or changes are documented, including education requirements, roles, and responsibilities, timelines, and milestones, and the appropriate master data resources are provided to support the project.

  • Understand business, supply chain, and resource group strategies to ensure the data standards can support these strategies. Key contact for these groups when new strategies and processes are being developed because of the knowledge and understanding about the process and data that this position provides.

  • Responsible for working with internal and external audits to review existing processes, confirm compliance, and address new issues that may arise.

What You'll Need to Succeed


  • Bachelor's degree or related work experience

  • Minimum of ten years of experience in Master Data or related business experience (SAP IT experience is a plus)

  • Experience in Data Strategy, Data Governance, Data Stewardship, and Data Quality/Archiving solutions

  • Knowledge and experience in defining Master Data management processes, implementing data automation tools and capabilities

  • Understanding of change management processes, strong knowledge of process management, strong planning and organizational skills

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities

  • SAP experience; S4 experience is a plus

  • Microsoft Office skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
