The Position Proposition:

Primoris T&D is seeking a Designer I. The incumbent will work with electrical engineers and other stakeholders to develop utility construction packages from conception through construction. The incumbent should be self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take initiative to learn new skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Able to apply technical and engineering expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems.
• Ability to effectively plan, organize, estimate, schedule and monitor work activities.
• Provide thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.
• Focus on continuous improvement of job-related, engineering, technical knowledge, skills and performance.
• Ensure the maintenance of accurate records and files.

Educational & Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution, a 2- year degree or certificate program preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of tangible experience as a substation designer in the T&D industry.
• Proficient in engineering theories and principles.
• Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
• Able to work in cross-functional and diverse teams.
• Knowledge and understanding three phase power systems.
• Knowledge and understanding of substation components and their functions.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of AC/DC fundamentals.
• Knowledge of design documents and drawings required for distribution design.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
