Renewed Equipment Technician - Military Veterans

JOB SUMMARY


To exceed customer expectations, facilitate the distribution of motors, drive units and related information between Customer Support Representatives, Service Departments and Parts Departments by analyzing, rebuilding and/or repairing motors, motor components and drive units for stock inventory and special orders.


 


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Disassemble motors and identify components by part number.

  2. Disassemble Drive units and identify components by part number.

  3. Analyze condition of components and repair as needed.

  4. Put components into stock after repair is made.

  5. Write up components from work orders to be entered into inventory.

  6. Pull parts from parts inventory to build motors.

  7. Performs necessary repairs to motors or drive units on a time and material basis in a professional and productive manner for internal and external customers.

  8. Provide technical support to Service Technicians and Customers.

  9. Inform Motor Department Coordinator of parts that need to be ordered for stock or special orders.

  10. Performs other duties as assigned.


 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  1. High school degree or equivalent.

  2. Strong desire to exceed customer’s needs.

  3. Excellent mechanical skills

  4. Show an ability to rebuild drive units—understand setting backlash on gears and preloads on bearings.

  5. Proficient in the Operation of the Following Equipment:

  6. Engine Lathe

  7. Bridgeport

  8. Surface Grinder

  9. Cummutator Undercutter

  10. Drill Press

  11. Abrasive Cut-off Saw

  12. Electrical Knowledge, including thorough knowledge of DC Electricity

  13. Basic knowledge of the operation of a motor


 


OTHER REQUIREMENTS



  1. Must obtain acceptable score on the Carolina Handling basic technician level test or demonstrate the ability to pass this test.

  2. Must be detail oriented.

  3. Excellent customer service skills.

  4. Organizational skills, listening skills and the ability to acquire necessary skills as needed in the position.


 


 


WORKING CONDITIONS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to hot and humid working conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes from ovens and airborne particles.  The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electric shock; the noise level in the work environment is usually in the moderate to loud range.


 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to walk, kneel and stoop.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; and frequently lift and/or move up more than 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
