Purpose of the position
Will perform assigned sheet metal duties as a PAE, an Amentum company, employee onsite at the NASA Johnson Space Center worksite.
Principal Responsibilities of the Position
- Sheet Metal workmanship, as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Use hand tools (aviation snips, nippers, sheet metal tongs, etc.).
- Use power tools (shears, breakers, crimpers, etc.).
- Form & install ductwork.
- Perform material layouts.
- Install roof curbs, dampers & gutters.
- Differentiate gauges and types of metal.
- Knowledge of basic installation codes.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
- Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
- Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
- Must have, and maintain, a valid Texas driver's license.
- Must have a High School Diploma.
Special Knowledge and Skills Required
- This position is located onsite at NASA JSC and requires US Citizenship.
- Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test.
- Clean, neat, and professional personal appearance.
- Must pass Asbestos physical and be able to wear a respirator as needed.
- Will insure quality and completeness of work in a safe and timely manner as well as insuring areas worked are clean, neat and ready for customers needs when complete.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Dexterity to operate office and field equipment as required by the position.
- In good physical shape/condition for climbing in and out of tight restricted working areas, as applicable.
Preferences
- Prior knowledge of NASA site, experienced with working on government installations preferred.
